I checked in on Thursday and the person at the front desk seemed really rude, did not welcome me and my wife. I asked about Hilton honors but she rudely said I didn’t qualify to collect points but that she would give me a free wifi passcode. Also, this is a Hilton Hotel and you don’t provide ice dispensers for customers? Not even a vending machine. So. I was told to walk two blocks away. Never expected this for a Hilton.

Hotel's Favourite
My husband and I travelled here for a 5 night trip, check in was easy, we were blown away by the view from the room on the 29th floor. The view alone warranted a 5 star review, but the facilities in the room didn't disappoint either. The room was HUGE by New York standards, large comfortable bed, walk in closest, large bathroom (first time I have ever encountered an electric toilet which had automatic seat lift and a heated seat), decent shower, small fridge in the room. We ordered room service one evening which was delicious. There was a small coffee maker in the room, and also a coffee shop in the lobby. The lobby is very bright and sparkly. The hotel has a sniffer dog outside with a handler (unfortunately I don't remember his name) who were extremely friendly, upon returning to the hotel each evening he asked about our day and gave us some great tips on where to eat, attractions etc. The hotel is conveniently located right next to the UN headquarters a few blocks from Grand Central Terminal. Many attractions are within walking distance, including Empire State Building, Rockerfeller Centre, and Times Square all within 30 minutes stroll. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the vicinity too. I have rebooked this hotel for a trip with my daughter in December (providing covid19 restrictions have been lifted). The one negative point I have is that the WiFi is expensive at $15 per day but it's only a small niggle. Overall one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.

I originally wasn’t going to say anything. Chalk it all up to covid stress. I’m in hospitality myself so I get it. But after these first two occurrences I listed that occurred at the end of our stay - it really pushed me over the edge, to the point where I feel I should warn people before they spend money here. This hotel stay was absurdly unprofessional. They shouldn’t be called a “business” even. More like a robber who stole $338 from me and in return I got to sleep in a dusty room with stained furniture. •930am(1hr30m before checkout), housekeeping walked in, WITHOUT knocking, while my wife and I were completely naked •housekeeping then called one hour later at 10:40am (20minutes before hotel checkout) and says [yes, this bluntly and informally] “hi, when are you leaving?” So I say “um, isnt check out 11?” And they say “ok good so you’re leaving at 11 great” then HUNG UP without saying anything else ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! this isn’t a covid-related business “oopsy”. This is blatant, horrid customer formality. Who says that? Who walks in without knocking? anyway.. let’s continue. •A USED KLEENEX WAS SHOVED INTO THE TOP OF THE KLEENEX BOX(this should literally be a crime in times of covid. If you can be arrested for spitting on someone these days, you should be arrested for housing someone in a germ-infested room. •Upon entering, soon realized the room hadn’t been cleaned in any recent time. bedside tables, windows, tv, couch, ALL covered in a layer/thick film of dust. I could LITERALLY DRAW IN IT!!! -No regular coffee packets, only decaf -Only one shower head worked(the smaller, weaker one) -by time shower ended, I was standing in shin-deep water -Plug for tub drain broken(had to physically remove drain in order to open it) -Safe was locked, couldn’t use it -Front desk wore masks 10% of the time + housekeeping didn’t wear masks AT ALL walking hallways/cleaning rooms. -Soaps and lotions in bathroom ALREADY OPENED and partially used -never visited room to make bed/take out trash/restock linen/restock coffee/etc(even after I REQUESTED a cleanup) -clock not set in room - had to set it ourselves -couch in the room had numerous stains on it It was as if a guest was here before us a month ago and all they did when they left a month ago was tidy up/make the bed and change out towels. Literally. That’s it. I’m positive my sheets were dirty, based on the rest of the room. No amenities refilled, no new soaps, safe was locked, films of dust everywhere, housekeeping walks in on you naked without knocking, maskless staff, I could go on and on. I’m not one to write reviews. As I said, I’m in hospitality. I hate what Yelp and TripAdvisor have done to our industry. But my god this whole experience was downright atrocious. No business should be proud of this. I understand it’s covid right now... but my lord.

Great stay I had a beautiful view from My room only down side was there was no ice machine/ no where to get ice or any beverages I’m guessing that is because of covid but other than that I loved it and will definitely stay again
