Great boutique hotel, small but adequate. Staff was outstanding and goes beyond what is required to help you. We had book two rooms, with one for an elderly. We arrived a bit early but the front desk staff work with housekeeping to get us a room way ahead of regular check in times. All of the staff we encountered was extremely pleasant and friendly. …
This hotel is in the middle of chaotic Midtown, especially because the Port Authority is literally across the street. However, my room was extremely quiet, clean, safe and well-kept. Thanks to the staff, from the front desk (Kayla) to housekeeping, we had a great four-night stay during one of NYC's busiest times for tourists (July 4th).…
This hotel was not what I expected in terms of Hilton quality. Even though we had amazing views of the city and were close to most attractions, our room was pretty run-down and the bathroom setup was just awful. Water from the shower spilled all over the bathroom floor, and the sink was clogged during our stay. There were rips and tears on the headboards and the beds were pretty uncomfortable. Would not recommend.…
Thing is, its not a boutique hotel, its a chain... its a "maximize every dollar" chain. I'm a Hilton Honors member [think I slid from Platinum to Gold, don't really care]... I'm supposed to get two bottles of water upon arrival [which in New York City is patently ridiculous as it has the BEST drinking water in the world coming out of the tap... but we're trained not to drink water from the sink... I digress]. They also offer you two "complimentary" drinks upon arrival -- which is all part of the $25 "urban" fee [or some such nonsense]. Basically, its the corporate mooks at the chain adding $25 to your room stay in the form of a free drink [in our case, two cups of coffee... not even Starbucks has that kind of balls!!!]. The room was beyond small - no desk [really]? --- AND had one of those annoying showers where you can't help but get hit with cold water when trying to start the thing up [seems to be a chain wide problem]. The elevators are only medium slow, fortunately there aren't a lot of guests otherwise I could envision 4-5 minute waits for a ride. The place is rather conveniently located to pretty much everything we wanted to do, and in our case - being from the northern suburbs of NYC, we do appreciate its proximity to the Port Authority bus terminal [as its an expensive pain in the arse to bring the car]. On the whole, its not a bad place... its a bit expensive for what you get [which is essentially a nicer lobby than you'd find at a "Hilton Garden Inn" or "Hampton Inn" which is about $100/night less expensive... but the locations aren't quite as quiet as this one is, and its a very short walk to the bus station.…
I found a GEM among the many hotels across from the Port Authority on 40th. Great staff, AMAZING room! Do your due diligence and check them out. Room was UNUSUALLY LARGE for a New York boutique hotel in this area.
