Stayed for 2 nights at The Jane and loved it. The location is not far from the subway and there is an abundance of bars and eating places within a very short walking distance. The hotel itself is quirky but classy and does not feel cheap or pretentious at all. The staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival, the...

I'm writing this review from the hotel now. I'm staying in the 3rd floor, a cabin room, traveling solo. I booked directly with hotel. I've stayed in many boutique hotels and this one is definitely one of the quirkier ones. To make it easier I'm going to divide review into positives and negatives... Positives: - hotel location is surrounded by...

Very intriguing place, considering its very unique architecture & design, as well as its history. Loved the neighborhood - meat packing district at the base of the High Line. Close to good food, cute neighborhoods to walk through, fun intellectual and physical activities of various kinds. Felt like a safe neighborhood. I recommend a captain's room, based on what I...

I really liked this hotel. I stayed in a Captain's Cabin with a fabulous en-suite bathroom and thought it was quirky and comfy. I was on the third floor so wasn't disturbed by noise from either the ballroom or rooftop bar. It's in a great location, 8 minutes from the Subway and only around the corner from the High Line...

Bed is too short (and I'm 5'5"). Room is too hot, heat cannot be adjusted, and AC makes a lot of noise. They attach a heavy rod to each room key to turn on power in room. About a dozen steps from street to lobby and no elevator. No table in room, not even a folding table. Long walk to...

This was the second time that we have stayed at The Jane. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. It is located in a nice and convenient neighborhood for visiting various locations in NYC. It's a little quirky...this makes it more interesting and fun...not a criticism.

The Jane is **great for single travelers on a budget**, and I can only assess single rooms -- they're extra-tiny rooms, but very well organized, in the manner of a ship's cabin, so much so that the ingenuity becomes a fun part of the stay. You can fit a surprising amount of stuff in there, and the single bed is...

You may not think of staying at a hotel as an adventure but then you may not have stayed at The Jane Hotel. We booked this room on the advice of a friend who'd stayed there several times in the past. I was intrigued by the history and quirkiness of a hotel designed to resemble a turn of the century...

My friend and I stayed here for one night for her birthday and had a blast! Be warned that the standard bunk rooms are truly tiny--even more so than they appear in pictures--and there's very little privacy, space to move around or room to put your luggage anywhere. In the future, I would probably only stay here if I visited...

Really small rooms, but since i didn't plan to hang out in the hotel i really didn't mind! Bathrooms and showers are shared in the corridor. they were always clean and rarely occupied. helpful relaxed staff. the room was way too hot though. The heat was controlled centrally so don't know what happened. even though i had the fan on...

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
