We LOVED the Jane! It's charming, quaint, lovely. The staff is wonderful. Private baths are amazing ("best shower ever" said husband). Bed is comfy. Captains room is spacious, well appointed, great view. Quiet, safe, adorable neighborhood. We walked to WTC (quite a hike) and subway. Sparkling clean. Bar is amazing. Would highly recommend and will come again! Comparable to Missouri... More

I shared a bunk bed cabin with a friend. Tiny room, so tricky with large baggage cases, but clean and comfortable. Not much storage, bar a couple of drawers, so pack light! The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Shared bathrooms were mostly free at all times and were kept clean. Great value and location was unbeatable for easy... More

Have stayed here a few times over the past 5 years. Awesome location, neat little rooms and the whole place smells a little bit like straw. If you need a good cheap place to crash that's just a couple of blocks from the subway and Highline then this is it. Even though service has dropped from what it used to... More

I have stayed at The Jane 3 times. Each time was SO FUN. First the lobby is so historic and decorated beautifully. It's like walking back in time. The history of the hotel is very interesting. But most of all, it's the details. The Bellman's cap and jacket the staff wear. The Stuffed Peacocks on the walls. The crisply clean... More

I was hopeful that this would be a great experience. But the cabin rooms are super tiny. I was just one person staying in a bunk bed cabin room -- and there was literally just a few feet of space between the door, my feet and my luggage. The bathrooms aren't well-marked. And I didn't know this was a hot... More

The Jane provides decent value in a solid location with loads of ambiance. But The Jane falls short on getting the basics right. Internet only worked on occasion and when it did the signal was very weak. Only hotel I have ever stayed in, in my life, that does not have any coffee available before 830am. And when the is... With a maritime background, I had high hopes for The Jane. The historic building, period decor and the location, were definitely worth the experience, what wasn't however, and this is where the screaming halt comes in: was the stench of cigarette smoke coming from some of the rooms. Unfortunately, the Jane has some permanent residents, and the rules regarding no... More

This chic west village hotel is long on funk and atmosphere and offers really affordable rooms in a notoriously expensive city. Great location but the rooms are Spartan to say the least. Mine was just about twice the size of my narrow single bed. No sink in the room, bathroom down the hall and the cooling system is mostly a... More

I recently stayed at the Jane and was very happy with the experience, I have a nautical background and booked the accommodation because it was nautical themed and the price was excellent, I booked a Captains cabin and it was great, bed excellent, pillows unreal and the bars sensational, with a great roof top bar looking out over the Hudson... Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
