Most travelers commend the Hyatt House New York/Chelsea for its professional staff and array of amenities, including well-equipped rooms with kitchenettes and a rooftop offering stunning views. While the hotel's cleanliness generally receives high marks, occasional lapses are noted. The modern ambiance of the rooms is acknowledged, yet some guests suggest minor tweaks could enhance the overall welcoming feel. Despite its convenient location and proximity to attractions, guests have expressed concerns over unexpected charges, leading to mixed feelings about the value offered. My grown daughter and I stayed for 2.5 weeks at Hyatt House NY/Chelsea. The beginning of our stay was in quarantine per NY state orders, so we reserved a suite with a balcony to step out for fresh air. The King Specialty Suite on the 29th floor met all of our needs and expectations as in past stays. This is our 3rd stay at this location. There was plenty of room for my yoga mat. Great lighting with floor to ceiling windows on 3 sides. Rooms are spotless and we felt good about the safety measures in place. Employees all masked, housekeeping has been reduced to keep contact to a minimum. Special requests to adjust housekeeping days were granted and staff helped with deliveries and package pick-ups. Because the elevators are so fast, I rarely rode with anyone else. The limit is 2 people max per elevator. The heating/cooling system can get a little loud in the bedroom but we just turned it off at night and the temperature was fine. Hotel shows a little wear and tear but that is reflective in the pricing. It is an excellent value!!! During our visit it was less than half the cost that it was before the pandemic. If you are looking for a mid-range hotel in a central location with a great view, I recommend staying here. Thank you to staff for making our stay safe and pleasant.

We have just enjoyed NYC staying at the HYATT House. We would thoroughly recommend this accommodation to a family or couples, especially those staying for an extended visit. We had a king speciality suite with washing machine. There was a king bed and sofa bed (as comfortable as you would expect). Kitchenette was well equipped and very user friendly for nights in after long days. The rooms are cleaned daily and to a very high standard. There are many delis within 5 minute walk to buy foods such as salads, hot meals etc. the breakfast is plentiful, omelette bar varied, quick and delicious. Staff at breakfast were extremely pleasant and hard working.
The staff in the lobby were also very helpful and cheery. Always happy to answer queries and knowledgeable. Coming in and leaving every day we were made to feel very welcome
Great views from the rooftop, rooms and breakfast area down 6th and across to Empire State Building
Location is perfect to walk in so many directions - 10 min to Times Square, 30 min to Central Park, 10 min to Flatiron area ( Eataly great place to purchase food to take back to room), 15 min union square, 10 min to Penn Station and Maddison Square Stadium. We caught a few Ubers and easy to pick up from hotel. Plenty of restaurants up 27th street (towards 5th and Broadway)
Thank you to all the staff who made our stay so fantastic. We will certainly be recommending to our friends.

The location and room were wonderful. The cleaning staff nonexistent. The wastebaskets had not been emptied from the former guest prior to my arrival. I stayed July 26,2021 through July 29, 2021. The cleaning crew did not come to my room once. I did ask for towels and new sheets and were given them, however this hotel is now all self service. The "Covid" bag breakfast is not worth picking up. There are no hot beverages, a small container of water, an indigestible pastry and microwave oatmeal. For $5.00 you can literally walk across Avenue of the Americas and get something drinkable and edible. Hyatt House would be much better off either eliminating the "Covid Breakfast" entirely or give the guests a $5.00 voucher to go to a decent coffee shop. The staff are wonderful, but their hands are tied by management. Also bring all your own amenities. Unlike many hotels that will give you a toothbrush or razor, these items are for purchase within the hotel. No amenities for guests.

The staffs were lovely and friendly. The bfast was very good.
I did book the king bed room for 3 people. The hotel offers the sofa bed. However, the mattress was in unpleasant joke. Impossible to sleep. The front desk offered a pad + extra blankets to support the mattress, which was on the floor, during our stay of 5 nights.
Extra charge on the type of room(not mentioned on the booking reservation)
It was a very unhappy experience for the price we paid for the 5 nights.

We had a reservation at newly constructed Hyatt Place a few blocks away and we were informed that it would not be ready in time just a few days before our trip. Hyatt moved us to this property instead.

PROs: The hotel is in a central location that's convenient to both uptown and downtown. The street is the center of the flower district, so it's actually quite pretty in the mornings. Polite front desk personnel. Rooms are very small, relatively clean but

CONs: The property has maintenance issues: bulbs that did not work, cabinet doors that fell off, dusty a/c vent, shower stalls that have no lights over them, threadbare towels.

Breakfast is served only to go and there's absolutely no sitting areas in the hotel lobby or anywhere else for that matter.

Although we are Hyatt members we were not offered an upgrade of any kind, only the two complimentary bottles of water.

Not likely to stay here again.

We were two couples staying here. The consensus is that it was "fine".
Location is very good, walkable to many areas. The staff is very friendly & personable.
Lobby is sparse but what does a lobby really need besides a desk to check in & a bench to sit on?
Valet parking for $65 a day was easy & quick. Bag storage is available. Check in was quick.
Nice views from my studio king room. Towels, bed linens & pillows were good quality. Room & bathroom were spacious and well laid out. Four of us socialized comfortably in there & we would've been fine with a couple of more people. Some things could have been cleaner (tile grout, carpet edges) but nothing was un-hygienic so that's not a deal breaker for me.
Breakfast was a selection of hot & cold items including fruits, yogurt, bacon & cereals. They do seem to struggle with replenishing things timely. Again, not a deal breaker but it would be better to not have to return to the buffet halfway through breakfast to find some oj.
There's a small "store" in the lobby with snacks, drinks & some toiletry items. You select your items then pay at the front desk. I didn't expect grocery store pricing but I felt taken advantage of being charged $5.00 for an 8 ounce, single serve milk. Even in NYC, that's just blatant price gouging.

The positives: The hotel is centrally located and it’s clean. It has a cool roof deck and a good gym with an awesome view. The cleaning staff is kind and polite.
The negatives: In 5 days we stayed, our room was cleaned only once and upon request.
The day our room was serviced, the cleaning staff tossed to the garbage our bag of food (it was next to the coffeemaker) for no reason.
We had to request everyday coffee packets because we kept running out. The staff would provide them to us but without condiments unless we requested them.
The breakfast was a bag to go with all sugary foods with the exception of an apple and a fruit cup.
The front desk staff was unfriendly. Sometimes they didn’t even greet us upon arrival and did not even ask how our stay was. They did not even offer to give us a receipt of our stay charges when checking out.
The air conditioner of the workout room was broken the last 3 days of my stay. I tried to call the front desk from the workout room phone but it didn’t work. If something happens to a guest in that area, nobody would know.
The entire stayed was charged to my credit card on the first day of my stay. Im not sure if this is customary in NY because in other places Ive stayed Ive gotten billed upon checking out.
The hotel is poorly managed and it is not customer service oriented which is the minimum you would expect from a hotel that charges over $300/night. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, this is NY and there are plenty of better options out there.

I had a horrible stay. I was told parking would only be $60 for the length of my stay as long as I did not take the car out. I called ahead before booking to make sure. I also asked when I checked in. When I went to check out the cost was $440 for parking. When I brought this up and said I was lied to they said, "there is nothing we can do." The employees did not care about coivd. Most of them would only put on a mask when they saw a guest coming into the lobby. There was no sanitizer at the front desk. All of the people checking in used the pen to sign in. The rooms are small but it is New York, you have to expect that. The bar was closed, breakfast was closed, the rooftop had one chair and no lights. Only half of the lights worked in my room so at night it was very difficult to see. The only positive that came from this place was the location.

Typically small NYC bedroom but modern, clean and comfortable room with great city views. Includes microwave and fridge, nice big shower but water took a few minutes to heat up, very comfy king size bed, lighting in the room was a bit dull but that was a minor issue. Due to Covid, breakfast was only available in a takeaway format in a bag from reception (oats, juice, muffin, yogurt, water) but that was more than what other hotels offered. Friendly staff, I had two minor issues with the use of the microwave and shower and they were both resolved within minutes of my call to reception. Great area, close to the 7th Ave / W28th subway (line 1), 7 minutes walk to Macy's, 25 minutes walk to Washington Square in Greenwich Village. Felt safe to walk around at night and the hotel has 24hr reception and security. Pay per use self service laundry facility in the basement. Depending on price, I would recommend and stay here again.

We booked accomodation in full for the sum of $4,082.63 from 7th - 14th April 2020. As you are aware we are not able to travel as the UK Foreign office advises against it and the U.S government has a travel ban in place. You are allowing to cancel our booking for free, but not allowing us to modify or cancel our booking without losing what we paid in full.

This trip was my 50th Birthday celebration.

You are insured for losses like this. How can you not refund our booking in light of the current situation?

Good question. I have no idea but my guess is that, as long as COVID is still rampant as it is now, we can forget about hot breakfast and daily housekeeping!! My suggestion: ask each and every hotel which you may be interested and find out what's the policy.
