#34 of 513 hotels in New York City
2020 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
Join us for Joie de Vivre's New York debut, an all-new neighborhood gathering place in Chinatown. Our new boutique hotel is crowned with a rooftop terrace lounge overlooking the Manhattan skyline. Where diverse cultures have come together for centuries. A springboard to some of New York City's most vibrant neighborhoods, from here in the heart of Chinatown to the Lower East Side, Tribeca, Soho, Little Italy and Brooklyn. 50 Bowery is a boutique hotel that captures the energy of NYC, inspired by the cultural crossroads of our location on Manhattan's oldest street, where diverse cultures have come together for centuries. With this hotel's convenient location on Bowery near Canal Street and the Manhattan Bridge, getting anywhere in NYC will be a breeze. We celebrate the joy of life, where General Washington communed with his men at the Bull's Head Tavern, where actors once took the stage at the vibrant New York Theater, and where new Americans from Europe and Asia brought their optimism and ambition.

Uniquely decorated boutique hotel in the Bowery, right in Chinatown, with an amazing rooftop view. Rooms were very nice and clean. Beds are very comfortable. Coffee is provided daily although the machines were not working the last day of our stay so we had to venture outside of the hotel for morning coffee which was inconvenient.

Location is amazing and the views are so great. The rooms were super clean and the staff were so nice. Will stay here again! Loved waking up to see the one trade center and NYC skyline, didn’t get a chance to visit their bar- but have heard great things!

I stayed here for 4 nights at the start of April and it was fantastic. The hotel itself has one of my favorite locations in NYC. It’s right by China town and little Italy and a 5min walk to the subway. You can walk a few minutes and be at the Brooklyn bridge or the NY supreme court area, it’s about a 15-20min walk to the 9/11 memorial and one World Trade Center. Easily subway accessible to anywhere in the city. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are great. I stayed in a double bed room with the city views and it was breathtaking, (I highly recommend that room). The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Ryan and Chris were both so kind and accommodate, as we’re all the staff members. As a Globalist I got early check in and late check out, as well as bottled water daily and a $20 per person breakfast credit. They have a service that delivers from local restaurants which was really nice. Overall great stay, I highly recommend it! Also the hotel has a fantastic rooftop bar with amazing views.

Stayed here one night for business, as an Explorist. I got in very early and had my meetings cancel while in flight. Awesome right? Well, I paid $25 in the app to get to check in early, like 9AM early. I got there and they didn't have any rooms yet, but there was a lounge with good wifi and free coffee and water where I worked until about 10AM when a gentleman approached me with my bag and room key and I went to my room. The room is terrific and I had the view of the Manhattan Bridge. Having said that, it's really a view if the Manhattan Bridge Arch and Colonnade which is still cool, but not really a bridge view. The room was large with a high ceiling. Only issue was the bathroom and the shower head which was a rainfall one but it wasn't really cleaned so the water sprayed in a bunch of directions. The rooftop bar is amazing and they do great work. Currently you have to buy food due to COVID rules, but you can take the macarons to go. And the warm pretzel was delicious. The views are terrific and you should go up there at least once both at night and during the day. Great staff. Will totally stay here again.
