The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina offers a pleasant atmosphere with clean, comfortable rooms that boast modern amenities and spectacular marina views. While many guests appreciate the hotel's convenient location and family-friendly amenities, some have noted disruptions due to renovations and occasional lapses in housekeeping. My family and I had the opportunity to stay at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. It’s a beautiful hotel with amazing views from either side of the hotel. One side is the Marina and the other side is a view of downtown.
Due to Covid19 the normal amenities of the hotel: valet, bellman service, concierge, restaurant dining, the Burrito Bar and Room Service were not offered or available. However, the hotel did offer a marketplace grab & go outlet with Starbucks offerings as well as poolside food & beverage service provided by The Shoreline Restaurant staff.
There were 2 employees who really stood out to me and my husband. My husband works in the hospitality industry and has seen and experienced his share of good and bad service. Debra, the pool attendant was really hospitable and maintained the overall cleanliness of the pool. She physically sanitized all the pool chairs and ensured proper CDC guidelines of wearing a mask when guest were walking around as well as ensuring guest followed social distancing amongst other guest. She was very friendly and approachable. On our last night at the pool, The Shoreline had already made their last call for pool service. Debra went out of her way and asked the server from Shoreline if they could take our order, which they did.
Conrad from the Shoreline Restaurant, had served us multiple times while we lounged poolside. He came right over without hesitation and took our orders. Food was promptly delivered to us poolside and continued to check on us with refills, before closing out our final bill. Conrad was very friendly and knowledgeable. Always greeting us whenever he saw us around the hotel. Both employees offered great hospitality and friendly service!
The location of this hotel is right next to the airport, a few miles from Liberty Station, grocery stores and dining options.
We were fortunate to have stayed on great room rate, but personally felt the extra person charge (4th person) $40 and $41/night self parking fee was a bit extreme. Also having worked in the hospitality industry for 18yrs ... I understand there are fees added, but $41/night self parking is a bit much. I would rate the hotel 5 stars, but settled for 4 due to the excessive additional fees.
Other than that, our stay was pleasant and enjoyable. The rooms are clean, the room size is normal / typical. We would definitely stay at this location again ...

I am a San Diego local and decided to have a San Diego getaway after seeing tv commercials for the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. What a great idea and what a great time.
Excellent service...even before check-in. I phoned in advance a few times to get further details on the resort fee, parking and making a request for an early check in. I was greeted on these calls by Lorna. Lorna was friendly and professional during my pre-arrival calls and she even helped me while I was on the property with a room service request.
Francisco at check-in had my room ready and a handy list of activities and amenities on site.
My room was comfortable and had a great view of the city and sunrise. Frankly it looks like a great view is also offered on the other side of the hotel with Marina, Point Loma and sunset views. Due to protocols because of the pandemic thé hôtel does not offer daily housekeeping, but the housekeeping staff was available to swap towels (which I did).
I took advantage of the yoga class and bike rental that are part of the resort fee. I did yoga for the first time with instructor Sarah Sweet who made yoga an enjoyable experience.
The pool is wonderful. I loved how the property had lanyards on the lounge chairs to show they were disinfected.
There are a lot of places throughout the resort to sit and relax.
I will definitely plan on coming back when I need an escape.

Amazing stay that exceeded all expectations. This stay was completed during the COVID pandemic. Many of the COVID impacts were explained on the website and during a phone call with the front desk. We selected the Sheraton because of its proximity to the airport, the shuttle service was still running, and the high quality of both the rooms and service. Easy check-in. The rooms were neat and clean with protective coverings over highly used items like the television channel changer.
Two pools were open with sanitized seating and limited people to enforce social distancing. This was great for the kids! Don’t forget the sun screen! They also did a hula hoop contest and s’mores for the kids. Food takes a little longer to prepare but outdoor service at the pool was great.
This hotel is going above and beyond while ensuring your safety during COVID. This is where to stay if you are looking for a relaxing time and can not sty at home.

We stayed over the 4th of July weekend.
The bad:
They charged $400++ a night for a comically small room with a view of the cooling tower and parking lot. Everything felt like price gouging pricing. Good thing there is a deli in walking distance so you can get a break from overpriced meals. They even charged us an "extra person" charge because we had 4 people in a two double bed room. The balcony had spider webs on the furniture and the concrete was stained and dirty. The closet door wouldn't close because of the way the iron was mounted to the wall. The baseboards in the bedroom and bathroom were caked with dust and grime. The toilet paper holder and sliding door hasp were both coming off the wall. The bath/shower had near non existent shower pressure. The hallway carpets were dirty and the outside sidewalks had spilled drink stains everywhere. There was a large junction box near the basketball court (ripped net) that had it's cover ripped off and wires sticking out. It really felt run down and understaffed. It took 45 minutes to check in and they only had one waiter working the lanai pool of the fourth of July (that guy deserves hazard pay).
The good:
The staff we interacted with were friendly and putting on a brave face. The location is good for viewing fireworks.

Response from Amanda Monroe, Guest Services / Front Office at Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina
Responded 14 July 2021
Hello TJSanDiego, We appreciate your response and honest feedback as it helps us improve the experience for our guests in the future. We apologize for the experience you had at Sheraton San Diego. The condition of your guest room was nowhere near the standards we have set for ourselves, so as a follow-up, I have sent your feedback to our housekeeping and engineering teams to ensure that our rooms are in the best shape possible for your next stay with us. Once again, we are truly grateful to have hosted you and look forward to showing you the type of service we know we're capable of during your next stay. All the Very Best, Amanda Monroe

Overall the hotel is fine. It’s a basic Sheraton in a convenient location near the airport and althe rooms are dated and could use a refresh. Staff is friendly.
All of the restaurants are closed during the week, even the outdoor restaurant on the marina, and they don’t have maid service during the stay but they still have the gall to add a $26 + tax resort charge each day for a bunch of things you likely don’t even want. Self Parking is another $41 a day and I guess they are blaming COVID again for not having valet, which is fine, but then they should lower the price of parking.
If you do want to eat something at the hotel you can order from room service and they give you the option of delivery or pickup which is nice (delivery is a $5 fee plus 26%). I opted for pickup in the lobby and I assumed for a $90 meal I’d get a wine glass a plate and some silverware but instead it I’m forced to eat out of a cardboard box with plastic utensils and drink the wine out of a plastic Starbucks cup (no regular glasses in the room either).
I get things have to change for COVID but it seems like they are using that as an excuse here to not even try to offer any kind of service while hitting me with jacked up fees at every turn. My “sanitized room” wasn’t even very clean with somebody’s used tissue in the closet.

Was so pleased to stay at this hotel which definitely followed covid-19 cleaning guidelines. The room was sealed with a label, the television remote was sanitized and sealed in a plastic bag, along with a clean, sanitary refrigerator, and extra sanitary wipes to name a few. There were also many signs notifying all about mask wearing, and social distancing. Despite a raging storm going on outside, the hotel was very quiet. The staff were always available, very helpful and pleasant.

I stayed here with my family after cancelling a reservation at a hotel downtown. Our main concern downtown was safety and the Sheraton was a last moment booking that did not disappoint. The property was very well maintained and clean. All standard Covid precautions seemed to be followed (masks required by all, very clean property, plexi barriers, hand sanitizer, ect..). The property is pet friendly (with a small fee) and has plenty of safe and clean areas with grass to let our pup stretch his legs. The rooms are a little dated, but not bad in any way. I'd like to give a shout out to the very friendly and helpful housekeeping and coffee shop employees. The hotel offered remote (text) checkout as well, which was very efficient and handled very professionally.
Thank you Sheraton! I'll hope to visit you again next time I'm in San Diego.

For me the big difference between staying at home and staying at a hotel is the daily housekeeping. I don't expect to make the bed, gather the trash, wipe the counters down when I am paying to have this done. The hotel website said housekeeping available on request. However, when I requested this I was told it only applied to stays of more than 2 nights. When I asked why I was told 'Covid.' Apart from the fact that most hotels now provide daily housekeeping, some on request, others automatically, how is it safe to clean a room after 2 days but not 1??? This is so obviously a way of saving money for the hotel. I did ask if all this would change on the 15th but wasn't given a direct answer. I think the hotel was under staffed as I tried a couple of times to call from the room for the general service number but mostly no one picked up. We had 2 fridges in the room. One didn't work so we put a bottle of Roederer Champagne in the other. The next morning it had exploded. Obviously the fridge was set at a freezer temperature. Finally, the hotel charges 41.00 a day for self parking. There is a huge parking lot across the road where daily parking is 10.00. The walk from there to the hotel was actually shorter than the initial space we got for the 1st night. This hotel has great location and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. Just needs some attention to service. One last thing - I tried for contactless check in but when we arrived at 4.30pm it has still not happened, so had to wait in line to be able to check in.

I booked this place under the Caregiver discount the Marriott group is offering since I’m a First Responder (Caregiver). The place is awesome. The pool was open, the hotel was very close to the airport and offers free shuttle. Parking is expensive however, for the Caregivers, they officer a cheaper parking rate. They truly try to take care of the Caregivers. They still offer some activities. Not too many guests are at the hotel so now is the perfect tile to go! Everyone from check in to the pool reps were very professional and extremely attentive. I will go back again. Thank you Sheraton for the great experience.

My family and I had a pleasant time staying at this hotel. It's located in Harbor Island near the San Diego Airport. It wasn't that noisy. We were first greeted and welcomed by the Valet team. The Front desk was very professional and courteous. As you walk into the lobby, it was designated for social distancing and there were hand sanitizers available. As we walk to our room. A sticker on the door to confirm that our room has been sanitized and cleaned. The room was clean and the decor was nice and modern with a large 55' TV. The balcony view of the marina was impeccable. The bed was ok, but not bad. We headed to the pool where we were greeted in a social distancing manner. The attendant was friendly and courteous. He also helped us order food and drinks. The pool was nice where it was near the marina. The water was warm and clean. Everyone was social distant. We attended the nightly smores with our kids and they enjoyed it. Not sure what the normal weekend rate is but we had a discounted rate for frontline workers. That's how we were able to experience our stay. Overall we enjoyed our stay. We would definitely come back if the rates are low.

Parking at the hotel is rather expensive. I don’t recall the hourly rate but the hotel would be happy to give you that info. There is limited street parking along the bay.
Sorry! I don’t have that information.
