Rooms were clean and beds were very comfortable. Used the gym which had all the necessary equipment for a good workout. You can not get a better downtown location than this. Within walking distance to all the best restaurants and bars. Staff very professional and go above and beyond. I left my passport at the hotel and only realised when...

Stayed here for one night while staying in Los Angeles. Got a good late deal. Very small room which was fine for one night but wouldn't want more there. Yes, the shower/wash area is odd. It was, however, in a very good position for the tourist and parking was good - although pricy.

This is a nice boutique hotel in the city. They have creatively renovated the rooms and have made sensible ergonomic decisions about laying out the small rooms. I had a corner room with two ambient light sources, which made a huge difference in how the space felt and lived. It was spotlessly clean and the linens and pillows were very...

This place kind of nickle and dimes you by charging for parking and resort fees. My boyfriend bought a travelzoo deal to here but even with that after being there, there are cheaper and I'm sure better places to stay. Once you get there you find out there is a $30 a night valet/self park fee which you should choose...

Stayed at the Sofia for business for a few nights. Overall it was good. Things that made me rate it lower...found a long black hair on the pillow and I am bald, when running the shower a sewer smell came up from the drain, parking is $30/night, and the last night not all towels were replaced nor the 2 bottles...

This hotel was originally the Pickwick and dates back to the 40's. It is on the historical registry. I remember it in the 70's when it really needed a face lift and 7 years ago it got it when it became the Sophia. The rooms are cozy (little) but it was amazing how much they got into the room without...

Older hotel, has been beautifully redone. Agree with other reviews that rooms are very small, however location for downtown business is great. Across the street from both state and federal courts, two blocks from shopping center. Good restaurant in hotel which unfortunately does not serve breakfast and does not allow room charges, but there is a Coffee Bean & Tea...

Clean but small rooms with nice beds and somewhat thin walls. However, great price, great location, free wifi and they even loan you a bike to get around. I stay when I take the train down. Its a short walk and then I use their bikes to get around.

My husband and I spent the night at the Sofia Hotel as a celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. We made the drive to San Diego on a Friday night after he had a long day at work, but managed to arrive around 10 PM. After circling the block a couple of times trying to find a parking spot, we...

Good value choice for business or a short pre-cruise stopover. You can't beat the location, close to the Gaslamp district, Horton Plaza, Trolley/Amtrak and the Coronado ferry. It's a historic hotel with small rooms but the renovation was extremely well done and rooms are comfortable and packed with all the amenities you'd expect plus fridge and microwave. Complimentary internet and...
