Reading other reviews' mention of "restored rooms" I see that maybe only certain suites are as dated as mine. My suite was in no way dilapidated or crummy, but it could certainly use some spiffing up. The rooftop breakfast is awesome, as is the central location for all-things Gaslamp.

The rooms are completely restored and very nice but a bit small for some people. Keep in mind that it is hard to make rooms bigger in buildings over 100 years old. On the other hand the friendly staff, things to see talk, complementary rooftop breakfast and hotel location more than make up for the room size. Your room key...

I travel a lot and I hate doing the typical 20-year old thing which is having 6 people to a room. Well we had 6 people in a room for a bachelorette weekend and I can truly say it was comfortable. The rooms have so much space. Continental breakfast is a overstatement for breakfast, but it still gets you ready...

This is a wonderfully beautiful old hotel, with marble and mirrored hallways, a great rooftop patio, and an excellent staff! My room, a King Suite, was very large, with a separate living area with sofa, a king bed, an attractive bathroom, and a small "kitchenette" area. The location is in the heart of the Gaslamp district, within walking distance to...

This hotel is in the heart of the restaurant area in downtown San Diego, easily within walking distance of a large variety of restaurants. Security was very good (a keycard was needed to operate the elevators). Although in the downtown area, it is reasonably near the airport (roughly 10-15 minutes) without any significant traffic along the way since freeway routes...

My boyfriend and I recently took a wonderful trip to CA and the Gaslamp Plaza Suites in San Diego was the first stop on our trip. The staff was very friendly and nice upon check-in. We had requested a room with a king size bed. Once we got to our room and opened the door we were extrememly surprised at...

This was a stay vacation for us-just a couple of days away from the heat! The staff was incredible-Sean and Merry - very personable and helpful. We valet parked - very convenient even at 30.00 a night. The rooms are mini suites so lots of room. The building is old so yes the downtown noise does drift in but hey...

It is perfectly located. It is noisy. That's because it is perfectly located. Use ear plugs - I did and it worked. Great value. Especially the breakfast. It costs $0, which in my book is great value. Iconic architecture and fittings so you can't expect a hermetically sealed and quiet hotel. I enjoyed the ambience. Nice people. Very spacious rooms....

We recently purchased a timeshare here and came to watch a couple of ballgames. The location in the Gaslamp is terrific-we didn't have a car(parking is $40/night) since everything is walkable. The hotel is clean, pleasant and all you need if your main goal is a nice place to lay your head. It is somewhat dated which is part of...
