Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My mom and I are staying here now and we are underwhelmed. The lobby area is very nice, clean and inviting, and the front desk staff have been very nice. The first room they gave us only had a king bed despite us requesting two queens so they moved us to the second floor without an issue. Upon entering the room there was an odor; it smelled like urine or wet carpet. The bathroom smells like mildew and the bathroom door only shuts if you slam it. The balcony door requires two people to slide it as it appears very old. The room itself looks recently updated but the offensive smells makes it feel icky. Thankfully we are just passing through and will only have to stay for one night.

Room and lobby were clean. Quiet hotel with nice beds. Good option if just traveling through. Close to Highway. No breakfast happening during our stay. That area was closed. Hallways and room needed to be vacuumed.

Hello Kakbo5, Thank you for the honest feedback regarding your stay. I am happy to say that our breakfast restaurant, The Bistro, is now open effective June 28th and is serving our hotel guests daily! We apologize on the cleanliness issues you experienced regarding vacuuming, we have recently been able to fully staff our housekeeping department which will prevent that issue in the future. Thank you,

The hotel is centrally located with at least 3 restaurants in walking distance. Friendly staff at every turn. It is a bit worn looking but it is comfortable. My stay was for work so I only needed a bed to crash in at night. The bed was just fine and the room was a descent size.

We need Negative stars!
I've taken call girls to nicer hotels than this dump!!
it completely shocks me that this location is a courtyard by Marriott
while checking in after 9 o'clock one evening I proceeded to unload all my bags get my room set up then I finally take my shoes off and the entire carpet is soaking wet the Ptac has been leaking. when I called downstairs there was no sense of urgency to get me moved nor really sincere apology
while in my replacement room it was extremely hot since the AC was not working when I turned it on, a strong odor blew out and filled up the room I removed the filters and proceeded to clean them myself because of the funk and the lack of airflow. The very next morning I discovered that my patio door had been left pen by either the previous guest and or house cleaning
I Was completely unaware that the room 217 had a patio and the night before I could not see it since it was dark but I'm glad I didn't because it was filthy for cigarettes and even lighters from the previous guest
Every horizontal surface had a thick layer of dust, shower head has never been cleaned, peoples pubic hair all over the bathroom
The next morning as I was checking out early since I had planned to be there all week there was really no apology it seem like the The staff just didn't care I spoke to a manager who had a tag that stated general manager but he talks more of a chef and a cook uniform he just apologized but he never did ask what can I do to make it btter or what he could do to help me with my situation as I was leaving. He made no attempt and clearly that's why the hotel isn't such a horrible condition because management doesn't care therefore there is no pride and passion to trickle down to the staff
I must say the Homewood suites by Hilton is such a newer well-kept and nice property and I'm glad to continue my weeklong stay here

Hello 936zachary, Once again we do apologize for the issues you experienced during your stay. You are correct that you spoke with me that morning, I do apologize for being in a Chef's coat, due to an employee illness I came in to cover our restaurant to ensure that our amenities were still available to guests at all times. I did apologize and ensure you that I would address and investigate with my team. You had informed me that you had already booked your next room and that there was nothing else to speak about. Due to you very disrespectful tone and choice verbiage with my morning staff and myself, I did not impress it further to keep you on our property. I did reach out to you, as promised, within a few hours after your departure upon investigating the circumstances of your stay issues. As stated in my email, the room you initially received had an open work order that should not have been in service that day to which you have my ultimate apologies. I have set new policies with my staff to ensure rooms with open work orders are not reserviced until signed off by our Engineering Manager as ready in full. They also have done a full general clean and maintenance on the second room. I also informed you via that email that on top of full compensation for the room, I awarded your Marriott account 10,000 points and also a future comp night at our hotel should you wish. To the time of writing this response, we have received no reply or any attempt by yourself to answer that email or resolve this further with us directly. I am glad you were able to find accommodations that suited your needs, we wish you and any of your future guests the best of stays with them and in Topeka. With regards, John Gaches General Manager John.Gaches@marriott.com

This hotel is filthy. It looks nothing like the pictures. Do not stay here. Hotel staff was rude. The hotel is dated and dirty. Feels like there is a layer of grime on everything. The entire property (lobby, hallways, room, elevator) smells bad. The carpet is dirty, the linens were dirty, the towels were dirty and thin. The pictures make the property look renovated and new. This is not the case. Avoid at all cost. We left immediately and went to a different hotel. No refund given, hotel staff lied and told us the hotel was fully booked even though I went online and there were multiple rooms available.

As I now am beginning to travel again I will be passing through Topeka in a few weeks. I always liked staying at the Courtyard but checked their website again to see if they are still implementing the bogus $10/night parking fee. Yep! So, I booked elsewhere and will continue to do that until they remove this ridiculous charge. Marriott's elsewhere in Topeka do not charge for parking PLUS they offer free breakfast. This makes it a no brainer to avoid this property. How many customers have you lost because of this charge? Hope the $10 from the clueless makes up for the lost revenue. A LONG time Marriott customer.

This is a really good courtyard. The front desk was courteous and friendly. Check in was a breeze. They accommodated my request for a first floor room. The room was clean and well maintained. The lighting was excellent in the room and bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were varied. Ice on the floor and coffee in the room was a plus.

They only clean room upon request (we were there 4 days) unless requested, but supply extra amenities as well as clean towels upon request.

There is no operational cafe due to Covid…but plenty of restaurants around nearby.

I got into town really early in the morning around 5am and to my surprise the hotel clerk checked me in. That's a huge PLUS.THANKS. I got a double queen room towards the end of the hallway and that was awesome. Great atmosphere as with most Marriots. I have no complaints. The location is another added advantage for those who may not be driving. You can literally walk to so many restaurants and the Mall. Overall it was a wonderful stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

Was treated like I was a bother to ask to see the rooms. Possibly hiding something. When I complained of the treatment manager said he wasn’t interested in my patronage. The manager needs to be replaced and crew trained on simple guest care. Marriott will never have my companies patronage again. This is by far the worst hotel experience we have ever had. Please find new management!

Hello Chad K, Once again we apologize that we were not able to take your business. Unfortunately, we have a zero tolerance policy regarding behavior in our lobby such as shouting and using excessive profanity in particular with our staff. We hope you were able to find accommodations that were able to accommodate the adjoining suites that you requested and we informed you we did not have. Thank you and safe travels,

Came to topeka for a basketball tournament with our 11 and 9 year olds. Tried to check in at 5. The room was not ready but promised it would be in 2 hours. Came back at 9pm. Still not ready. They said they could not give me a refund because I hadn't booked through them. There were no other rooms in the city. It is now after 10 pm. Waiting in the lobby with the kids. Hotel is filthy. Poor girl at the front desk is in tears. No manager anywhere to be found. Beware
