Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When we checked in, the young lady at the front desk gave his Hollywood acting debut and it was too long and animated for that time of night. Our room was clean and comfortable, so we had a good night. Breakfast was better than in the past, but still needs some improvements. The nasty turkey sausage needs to go. Other Marriott hotels carry organic sugar, but not this one. On the plus side, the fellow in the kitchen was out regularly checking the serving area and replenishing items.

New hotel with well designed rooms and professional and pleasant staff. Interstate Noise can be an issue at night if you are on the front side of the hotel (odd numbered rooms). There’s construction next door that also starts early.

Room “freshening” seems to mean new towels and empty the waste baskets. Nothing else.

One of my two beds clearly already had a broken down mattress. Switching beds worked but not a good sign for future maintenance.

As for the free breakfast, go for the coffee, juice and toast and not much else.

I will recommend staying here but with the caution that it may not age well.

We were disappointed with this marriott property. It is well appointed with expansive lobby and breakfast area. The Suite was spacious and comfortable. With a price of $170+ one would expect a reasonable breakfast option. The selections were bare minimum and we felt unacceptable.

Had relatives stay here while passing through on the way back to Colorado. Contrary to older posts, the hotel was immaculate. The breakfast was good and plenty. Relatives commented on nice size rooms and overall great appearance of the hotel and facilities. The lady, I wish I would have got her name, was extremely pleasant and helpful in getting reservation and answering questions! Real close to good lunch and dinner options and the city walking/biking trail right out the back door. Will certainly recommend people to stay here.

We have stayed in this hotel before and it was much better. The rooms, parking, and front desk are fine, but the “hot breakfast” has gotten much worse. The oatmeal was like soup - very watery. Most of the breakfast items now get pulled out of the freezer and then get microwaved. They need to get back to what they served a few years ago or folks will look for other lodging options.

In general this is quite nice for this level lodging. It is new, which shows. If you are a jogger, a miles long greenway is outside the door and the hotel is across the street from a nice park. Movie theater across the parking lot along with a well known casual restaurant. But maintenance is already starting to slip. There was mold around one edge of the tub. An edge of the tub enclosure was cracked, possibly from construction. One piece of stone baseboard in the bath had come completely loose and could be removed if one was so inclined. One of the bed reading lights did not work. Stain on the carpet. I'd recommend but only for now because of what appears to be inattention to maintenance details.

We had a great stay at this nice new hotel. Staff was wonderful. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The pool was just what the kids ordered. Awesome fitness center which was an added highlight for me. Breakfast was good and they served us. Justin took excellent care of us during our stay, he was helpful, very fast at checking us in, polite and friendly and very knowledgeable about places to eat and visit. We had a couple of new hotel issues but he worked them out quickly and efficiently. 10/10 highly recommend this hotel and had a really nice stay. Will definitely be back!

This was a really nice hotel that even had a walk in closet. We had the 2 queen beds. It’s was set up with a desk area and a kitchen area with a small sitting area. The bathroom was clean and they have a great staff. Would definitely stay again. Pool was small but also kept extremely clean as well as a nice work out area. Parking lot was well lit and was in a nice safe area.

Walked in to our room, and noticed it hadn't been vacuumed properly (paper on the floor, later found a peanut next to the couch). Opened the fridge to add our water and coke, only to find 4 bottles and 1 can of beer (which I promptly took down to the desk and the clerk was sitting at the bar with another employee.) As my husband and I walked up the stairways, it was obvious they hadn't been vacuumed in several days. The bathroom is very narrow: one sink, commode and shower in one space. Two people could barely fit there together ( and my husband I are thin!) As Marriott Bonvoy members, we used a certificate here, but wouldn't pay for same room. Spoke with manager about cleaning, and I know it's difficult to hire employees, so I understand, but...

If I could rate my experience at this hotel at a zero, I would.

I have never in all my time as a Marriott member (or in any other hotel) had a worse experience. Never.

Joel, the assistant manager that was on duty during our visit, is the most unprofessional, inhospitable and unwelcoming person I have ever dealt with. Our experience (with the three families we had checked in to stay) ended with a late call to a regional manager to express our concerns - and I do not make those phone calls lightly - and a departure from the hotel, as we did not end up staying.

Apart from the absolutely deplorable situation with Joel, we did get stuck in the elevator, five of our kids came out of the pool with their feet literally cut up from the floor of the pool, the pool was unbearably freezing (when we asked if there was any way to heat it at all we were told no, which was completely inaccurate), we gave a $20 tip just to get more pool
towels (that seemed to be a major inconvenience to Joel), and that’s just to name a few things in our extremely short time spent inside this property. Not to mention - Joel told us he had been “texting his girlfriend all day” about us and while we were on the phone with the regional manager, Joel hid in the back of the conference/meeting room where we went to make that call and have that conversation before we departed the hotel so that he could listen to our entire conversation. We are awaiting and expecting a call back from the regional manager tomorrow.

If you need a place to stay in Topeka, my suggestion and strong recommendation is to stay anywhere else. ANYWHERE else.
