The Taj sits at the foot of Boston Commons and on Newbury Street. You cannot beat the location or the size of the rooms. The staff is extremely nice and professional from the front desk to house keeping.

Built as a Ritz Carlton, now owned by another chain. Location is the strongest attribute. Breakfasts were very expensive, bland. Mini fridge packed with overpriced minibar items. No convenience shop. Stayed here with a conference and dined elsewhere. Easy to take the T everywhere. The room was huge. Spotty wifi. Comparable to a lot of Boston hotels, but not outstanding.

Taj was my choice after I read on TA that orig hotel had bed bugs! Old world charm in this prior Ritz Carlton but had a large room facing the Commons. For only one night we could handle the rather small bathroom and clanking pipes. The lovely woman who turned down our bed - gave slippers and laid mat near...

I was on a short Boston stay with my 20 year old daughter. The staff, location of the hotel and it's charm are what give the Taj it's appeal. It is a traditionally decorated hotel, but, if you go up to the 16th floor bar area, it is very modern with mirrored furniture and an amazing evening view of the...

Walking out the front door on Arlington, The Taj faces Boston's Public Garden. Walking out the side door on Newbury, one begins five-six blocks of great shopping and restaurants. Natural beauty combined with chic shops and restaurants. What more could one want?? Too bad they don't have outdoor seating. People watching there was fascinating. Eclectic, cosmopolitan and well-dressed. Reminded me...

I had to go to Boston for a work event and arrangements were made for us to stay at the Taj. This was our first trip to Boston and the stay at the Taj was a highlight. The location is amazing ... just across the street from the Public Garden which is beautiful. It is also within walking distance to...

The concierge service is not the same the two people I spoke with did not have the same knowledge as ones I have scene there in the past. I was not happy. The location is great right on the boston common. I just wish they would keep up with the service standards of other hotels. I want the TAJ to...

Beautiful hotel directly across the street from the Boston Gardens and Commons. Check in staff were professional and courteous. Room was clean and very well accommodated. You can walk to many local attractions, the waterfront is only about 1 and 1/2 miles away. Nice bar in the lobby and the roof top brunch on Sunday is a must your stay...

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
