I was visiting Boston for one night before heading to the coast. This one night in Boston was also my 30th birthday so my fiancé decided to treat me to a night at the Taj. We booked the room through Hotels.com. We rented a city view room on a higher up floor with a king bed. When we checked in...

Good friendly service at a great location. Comfortable large room. Good valet service although a busy challenging front door given traffic. Guys were great though. Food is pretty good at restaurant but avoid room service...over-priced and just not that good.

Café hostess was bordering on rude on more than two occasions. Concierge was very friendly and helpful. Service in the Bar was unacceptably slow. The room was clean and nicely decorated but very overpriced for what it is. I would not recommend it to my friends.

We are a middle class family but we enjoy being in elegant places enjoying elegant experiences and Taj is the place to be when in Boston. Emily at the reception was great. Restaurant was excellent food and very friendly service. I really liked that Emily was able to give us suite 409 with a connecting room 408 and 407. This...

What a mix of customer service training! Some excellent, some terrible. Location is great, but it is very dated. I go to Boston a lot, and always try to stay near the Commons and Gardens. I generally love the older hotels for the ambiance, but the Taj staff made so many mis-steps and gaffes, it was almost a comedy sketch....

Wonderful Hotel; amazing location, warm service and great rooms. What more could you ask for. The staff are really wonderful and will go beyond to make your stay wonderful. The rooms have an old world charm and coupled with the view of the Boston Commons and Public Gardens makes this a fabulous hotel to stay in.

Good food, but very overpriced. The waiters gave careful and dignified service. The extensive list of wines by the glass was carefully curated as to go with the spicier South Asian cuisine. Location is outstanding.

Built in 1927 and sitting on the Public Garden at the top of Newbury, The Taj is starting off pretty strong. The old classic architecture is welcoming, the rooms have been nicely updated and the staff is super attentive. Because it is an older building, the rooms can be a bit noisy but, given the location, luxury, location, price and...

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
