The overall building and facilities throughout the entire Hostel were of such a high standard, modern and immaculate, honestly the best i've ever stayed in. The staff were very warm and friendly, they helped me out with information about the city (sightseeing) and onward travel to the airport. Also the choice at the breakfast buffet was amazing and all you...

Excellent location. Massive lockers. And you have a personal cubbie hole with power plug to charge stuff at night. Nice and clean hostel. Is exactly what a backpacker is after. Breakfast is included- coffee, juice, bagels, toast, boiled eggs and cereal.

The bedside cubbies are my favorite feature. They actually have a sneaky little hole cut out in the back so you can charge electronics while you're out for the day and the items are safely locked in your locker! And thanks for complimenting our cleanliness; our Housekeeping team is top-notch -- I'll be sure to pass along the compliment :)

We stayed in a double room with private bathroom. The room was very big and good value for money with the great location of this place. The common areas were well kept, the staff very friendly and continental style breakfast was really good. The only slight negatives were that the bed wasn't comfy and very squeaky and the room had...

Good value for money, cleanliness and excellent location in Boston downtown. Although you don´t have an ensuite bathroom, they are clean and there are plenty of them in each floor. It is basic but comfortable

We stayed 3 nights at the HI Boston Hostel, in a private room with ensuite. The room was great – it had bunk beds with a lower twin bed, and upper single bunk. The room also had a desk, and a great shower. High ceiling in the room and good heat/ac controls. Flat screen TV. When we first arrived at...

Stayed here for the Boston Marathon and can't beat the location! Right near South Station and not a far walk from Boston Common. Staff were friendly and the place was very clean. The only downside, and it shouldn't be a deal breaker, is that it's kinda noisy: I had a bunk that was right by the door and I heard...

This hostel has a great location, 10 minute walk from South Station and in between two different subway lines (green line and orange line). The hostel is about 150 yards from the beginning of The Freedom Trail on Boston Common. This hostel is definitely the most modern hostel I've stayed in. Everything about it is perfect!

Thanks for your review, Mike! The interior of the hostel is totally modern- complete with loads of sustainability features), but the building itself is 127 years old. Come back and see us soon!

Very clean and friendly, many amenities. Only complaint is it was quite warm in our room and everywhere really, which is strange as it was March in Boston. Otherwise, loved it and would definitely stay there again. I would happily recommend it!

Glad you enjoyed your stay, Sarah. With the cool temperatures outside and trying to regulate the whole building, temperatures can definitely get a little wacky. If you stay with us in the future (or any other HI hostel!), please don't hesitate to let the front desk about about the temperature issue- they'll be happy to reach out to maintenance to...

I was there last summer, I think it would be not fair not to say something about this really nice hostel. It has really GREAT VALUE. How many hostel can offer a full bath for even 8 people room? No need to run to the hall way for bathroom in the night, no need to fight for shower space with...

Thanks so much for your kind words, Rita! The little cubby next to the bed is one of my favorite features about the rooms-- because like you, I need that space for my glasses, phone, water, and other small things.

I'm lugging my heavy snowboard gear around, so it was thankfully only ten minutes walk making it a breeze getting to and from South Station. This will be your main entrance point into Boston if arriving by Bus/Coach/Amtrak Trains. Those flying in can make the most of the free Silver Line bus service from Boston Logan to South Station. Thanks for your kind words, Vince! We're glad you enjoyed your stay and had such a positive experience staying with us. Furthermore, thank you for the blurb about the bathrooms, it really does depend a bit on how respectful the previous users are! Our housekeeping staff is incredible and they clean all those bathrooms twice daily!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
