An odd hotel, this one. Yes it's well-located in the financial district. Yes, It's reasonably priced. But my room was kinda small, a few things didn't work (outlet) and in general it felt like the place was trying to look hip and cool without spending a whole lot of dough. Thus the Ikea reference. Not exactly a hotel for the... More

Thank you for your review. We do offer different room categories, each with its own personality. On your next visit, try one of your Deluxe rooms. The deluxe room offers bigger square footage and it will be more spacious. Hope to see you soon!!! More

We would like to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for accommodation in Boston - staying there at the start of September. The room (1210) used the space efficiently with lots of natural light good space and great use of the high ceilings. There was plenty of room to spread your bags and a compact desk as well. The room... More

This hotel has no sense of place, except for the 3 Boston-themed plates somewhat randomly affixed to the wall. The neighborhood is vibrant during the day. Empty at night. The lobby is super austere. We saw no one lounging there, with a drink, comfortable. It's not that kind of place. The lobby is there to look cool, which makes it... More

We're sorry that our restaurant closure negatively effected your stay. This was an ownership decision made back in May & we are currently working with management to open a new restaurant & start serving continental breakfast once again. Because of the restaurant closure, we don't carry any Food or Beverage in house at the moment - besides our mini-bar items... More

Beautiful, minimalist hotel in a great location. We were in town for a concert at the Orpheum and found it to be about an 8 minute walk. The room was a bit small but clean and well appointed. We've stayed at 5 different hotels in this general area in the last year and I'd rate the Ames at about middle... More

We loved this hotel!! It was historical and modern all rolled into one. Fantastic Decor, clean, large rooms, friendly and knowledgeable/helpful staff. We felt we were treated like royalty, with doormen opening the doors for us, and the concierge making great recommendations. The location is fantastic for anyone travelling on foot to any of Boston's many tourist attractions - right... More

I liked the web presentation when I booked the hotel -- modern amenities, high ceilings, down bedding -- yet it was the outstanding service that WOWed me at the Ames. I had an event scheduled prior to my arrival and checked in quite late. The night manager Taka and front desk agent Kayla were very attentive to my needs, friendly... More

We're very happy that you enjoyed your stay at Ames & your comments will be passed on to Kayla & Taka. We do have coffee makers available upon request (It's because of the decor that we don't put them in the rooms except upon request!). Thank you for your review & for choosing Ames. Hope to see you again! More

I am always looking for a new Boutique hotel, especially in a major city. Based on past reviews thought I would give the Ames a try. What I like is the location. After taking the blue train in from Logan, got off at State St. Stop and walked one block to Court Street. What I didn't like was I walked... More

The reviews on here that say this place is noisy are a bit... Weird. What were you expecting when you booked a hotel room in the downtown core of Boston? That said, it's not even particularly noisy. The Friday night before labour day weekend we arrived had the streets a bit rowdy. Again... It's Boston. Our room faced the street... More

This hotel, located in the historic Ames building next to Boston City Hall, is a great find. I stayed in a standard room but was given a corner room which had a huge bathroom and typical hotel living area. The tremendously tall ceilings (20') added to the spaciousness of the room. The hotel has complimentary Molton Brown products and the... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
