What an awesome place to stay! We just visited for the second time. We stayed on the 43 foot cabin cruiser...roomy and comfortable! All the amenities you would get in the best hotel...only quiet, secure, and with a fabulous view. We sat up top on the fly bridge at night to enjoy a beautiful view of the city lights. A... More

Stayed on the Green Turtle II to celebrate my husband's 50 birthday. This large, older cabin cruiser is meticulously kept and spotlessly clean. What luxury to have it all to ourselves! The boat has both heat and air-conditioning, but we didn't need either, as the many windows let the fresh breeze keep the boat cool on a hot day. There... More

We loved it! Three gal pals on an annual reunion! Great spacious boat, well stocked with goodies, an aft deck where we spent hours just enjoying being outdoors (drinking wine, talking), on the water with the beautiful Boston skyline for scenery and interesting boat traffic in the harbor. Restaurants close by. Easy fun ferry ride to Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall and... More

We like to find quirky places to stay to get away from the usual hotel style accommodation and the Green Turtle 3 was just right! Four of us spent 3 terrific days there under the care of Jon and Karen who are outstanding hosts. Breakfasts served were delicious and the boat was clean - we couldn't wait to return each... More

We stayed on Green Turtle II from 24th - 29th July 2016. Fantastic base for exploring Boston. Great clean and comfortable accommodation and couldn't ask for anything more. Breakfast - Wow! amazing home cooked food made by Karen on the sailboat and brought to the our boat by Jon. We had breakfast on the aft deck every morning as the... More

We stayed aboard the Green Turtle II last night in Charlestown Mass, a comfortable yacht overlooking the Boston skyline. Karen and Jon, the in keepers, were wonderful. The booking process was very easy, communication very good and they met us on the pier, where you can park very close, and escorted us to the boat. The boat is charming, clean... More

For my husband's birthday I decided to think outside the box and found the Green Turtle Floating B and B in Charlestown Marina. My son and daughter joined us for a one night stay. We arrived to meet Captain John who welcomed us aboard with warm hospitality. From the yacht we could walk to the North End and all over... More

I was looking for something a little bit different than your average hotel stay to help celebrate our anniversary. I am so glad that I stumbled upon The Green Turtle Floating Bed and Breakfast. From our very warm welcome to the moment we said "good-bye" John and Karen made us feel totally welcome....while also giving us plenty of space. They... More

This was the first stop on our East Coast USA road trip and it was the best! The location is just perfect. After a long day sightseeing, to come back and relax on the dock with a bottle of wine and beautiful views is just the best way to end the day. Also the best way to start the day,... More

Staying in Charlestown

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlestown
Charlestown’s hilly roads, narrow streets and gaslight lamps, make it an enticing neighborhood to visit. Follow the Freedom Trail over the Washington St bridge from the North End or take the scenic water locks to Paul Revere Park. Walk through City Square and stroll down cute Main street, wandering up the windy residential streets to Monument Square, where you can learn about the city’s history along with a great view of Boston at the Bunker Hill Monument. While it’s not a huge area, there are some excellent restaurants. Find your way to the Charlestown Navy Yard, which is a developing area with lots of condos and an additional site for Massachusetts General Hospital research centers. Here you will also find the USS Constitution Museum. After you’re done, hop on an MBTA ferry at the dock on Baxter street and zip on over to Long Wharf and the New England Aquarium.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Green Turtle is a floating bed and breakfast as luxurious as it is unique. Set in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard on Boston Harbor, the Green Turtle offers an expansive view of the Boston skyline along with the comfort and amenities of a modern bed and breakfast. The USS Constitution (Old Ironsides), the Bunker Hill Monument and the Freedom Trail are a short walk away. You can take the water ferry to numerous points along the waterfront. There are dining choices from bagels to world famous dining. The Green Turtle houseboat and yachts were designed for comfort above all and the only reminder you are floating in Boston Harbor is the sound of the gulls, motion of the sea and the reflection of the ocean dancing on the ceiling. It is delightful starting your day sipping coffee or enjoying a cold beverage after a day of sightseeing while sitting on your dock chairs or aft deck watching the harbor traffic and city skyline. The Green Turtle Floating Bed and Breakfast offers 3 boat choices. The Green Turtle I is a houseboat offering two private and separate suites and each has 1 queen sized bed with luxury linens. Each suite(Loggerhead and Sea Turtle) has a kitchenette and a private bathroom en suite. Each suite sleeps 2 or reserve both suites for 4 people. Green Turtle II is a 45 foot motor yacht which sleeps 2 - 6 people. She has 2 private queen staterooms with bathroom and shower in each stateroom, a full sleeper sofa in the living area, a galley and dinette and a great aft deck with comfortable outdoor furniture. Green Turtle III is a 43 foot motor yacht which sleeps 2-4 in 2 queen staterooms with bathroom and shower in each, a salon (living area) galley and dinette and an aft deck with comfortable outdoor furniture. Your suite/yacht is stocked with gourmet coffee, teas, juice yogurt, granola, spring water and snacks. We deliver fresh breakfast each morning.
