A charming home located in a beautiful neighborhood, walking distance to the heart of Boston. The room was comfortable and the breakfast goods were delicious. This was my fourth visit, and I always feel like I am home.

We regularly come to Boston and stay at one of the big hotels. The Gilded Lily was a welcome change, starting with the inviting neighborhood and being greeted by James. We came for a concert at Jordan Hall (New England Conservatory) and were able to walk. James recommended a nice French bistro, again within walking distance. The room was spacious...

We were hoping for a wonderful B&B in the charming Southend neighborhood of Boston, but we were blown away by how wonderful The Gilded Lily is, as is the owner and host, Jim. We had the pleasure of staying in a beautifully renovated late 19th century townhouse on a quiet street just a few minutes walk to all that Copley...

I have to say, The Gilded Lily is an outstanding place to stay. The location is perfect - not in the middle of hustle and bustle yet walking distance to public transport and most other places of interest. The room was gorgeous, totally immaculate and kept that way at all times. James couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. He...

"As planned (or at least thought) I arrived at Logan International Airport to pick up a friend. I soon well maybe not, realized I was a day too early and my friend called me from Istanbul to let me know. After waiting more than 3 hours, I was pretty tired and not in any mood to drive back home. Fortunately,...

Stayed one night at Christmas time, beautifully appointed room, quiet, elegant townhouse in excellent South End location! Owner is gracious but unintrusive, continental breakfast (in-room) is very nice. Very good value on top of all that!

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
