Pros: Karen and Winnie do a great job. The rooms are beautiful to look at. Cons: Common areas are unwelcoming. No fire, wine and cheese to welcome you "home" after a long day of walking. I understand no fire in the rooms, BUT as SMALL as the rooms are, you have to get out of the room especially with a...

The Clarendon is perfect. You would be crazy to stay in a hotel. I thoroughly recommend it and would stay again.

The Clarendon is all that we expected - and more. Very comfortable private and common rooms with congenial, helpful owners and staff. They were never intrusive, as can be the case in some establishments. The breakfast is much more varied and of a better quality than most b&bs. Consisting of fruit, excellent proteins (Italian cold cuts, eggs, cheese), there's also...

This is a great place to stay if you appreciate an establishment which is designed in excellent taste but which is also extremely comfortable. The staff are friendly and welcoming and we had a great three days in Boston using the Clarendon as our base. BTW I am not as a rule inclined to write reviews but this place was...

My husband and I stayed at the Clarendon for 3 nights during our vacation in Boston. This property defines "clean" and "well-appointed". The room was amazingly decorated and cared for (we stayed in the suite) as were the common areas. It was really like staying in someone's home, and not a hotel, someone with great style and taste! The rooftop...

The Clarendon Square Inn has a very attractive interior design, and lives up to the pictures you see on its website, but we felt that it was a little too pristine and lacked feelings of homeliness or comfort. Don't get me wrong, I love stylish hotels. But some parts of the Clarendon Square Inn just aren't that welcoming. Take, for...

My fiance and I stayed here for only 1 night, but I wish it would have been longer. The rooms were perfect and beautiful. The decorations are absolutely gorgeous, but more importantly the hosts are wonderful. We always felt like we were in our own home and were always very well taken care of. The jacuzzi on the top of...

the front beckons from the moment you step foot on the sidewalk. the real charm, however, lies within. every detail is taken to heart.... from the amazing decorating to the fine linens and care to furniture arrangement. the breakfast was a wonderful mix of continental with a flair for the european. we hated to leave each day and were always...

Wonderful location - so close to some really great restaurants and shops - and such a beautiful place to stay. Rooms are very comfortable and smart and the staff, including the infinitely patient Karen, really helpful. All the place needs now is a lift and it would be perfect.

Having just returned from a trip through three states, I can easily say this was our favorite place to stay. The house is beautiful, and tastefully decorated. Karen, the manager, was friendly and accommodating. The B&B is located within walking distance of numerous activities, so a car isn't necessary. I highly recommend staying here.

Staying in South End

Neighbourhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
