My wife and I checked in at the Newbury Guest House on January 2, 2014 for two days. Boston was hit with the Nor'easter Hercules that day, so our stay was frigid, white, and wintry. The city was pretty much closed down, but the Newbury Guest House is close to everything in the Back Bay area -- restaurants, shops, and...

I booked this hotel over the larger ones in the area based on the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. The breakfast and location were both excellent. Newbury Street is a fabulous place to stay, with great shopping, restaurants and public transport nearby. The Guest House really lacked in other areas, however. The staff was not at all welcoming or accommodating. Actually,...

This is an excellent guesthouse in one of the best locations in Boston - on Newbury St in Back Bay, with its wonderful shops and good restaurants. Short walk to the T line, which provides access to the major museums. Also only a short walk from Symphony Hall for the concert-lover. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with large...

The location is superb on Newbury street which is a pretty and trendy street of old Victorian houses. You feel like your on the doorstep of the city without being in the hustle bustle. The neighbourhood was safe to walk, no problem and the T line is only 5-10 minutes away. The room was lovely and well appointed with a...

What a treat to stay at the Newbury Guest House on the famous Newbury Street in Boston. All the staff went beyond what was expected to make our stay so wonderful. Our room had beautiful windows overlooking the street. There was a delicious crepe restaurant right below our room and a fantastic pastry shop opened the last day we were...

The Newbury Guest House staff was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable located right in the heart of it all. Boston's finest shopping and restaurants are foot steps away. The very good included breakfast was a major plus. Will definitely stay here again!

Loved Newbury Guest House. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and clean. Located in the beautiful Newbury Street I was amazed with how beautiful the street was so Boston. The shopping was incredible and the restaurants aplenty. Close to all you need whilst in Boston. Would definitely stay again didn't want to leave.

This was my second visit to this guest house and I wasn't disappointed. We had a slight problem when checking in but it was dealt with very professionally by Bianca. Within no time we were settling in to our room. The room was spacious and clean. There is no tea/coffee making facility but it's not an issue as there is...

A lovely boutique hotel, in the heart of the iconic Newbury Street. We had a large room, with a great king-size bed. Very comfortable. Breakfast is a treat too, with bacon to die for. Fresh coffee is always available in reception, whenever you need it. A perfect location for all the shops, bars and restaurants in the Back Bay area....

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
