Detailed Reviews
A clean and comfortable stop when in southern FL and traveling to and from Key West. Interesting to see how this AFB has rebuilt into an ARB after Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Easy access. Retirees are welcome.

Do not expect a Hilton type of service and you won't be disappointed. When we checked in, the lady at the front desk needs to find another field to work in as she was the most un-hospitable front desk clerk I have ever met. She never smiled, never greeted us, on the overall just looked like she hated her job so much I was wondering if I maybe she wasn't getting paid for the night!!
With that said, the location of the inn was definitely convenient: It was probably about 20 minutes to the Ernest Coe entrance to the Everglades, and about 30-40 minutes to the Shark Valley / Flamingo entrance. Outside the base, within a few miles, there is a Walmart (in the event you forget something as we always do). There are also several interesting local restaurants that you can try out. The exchange is closed on the weekend, but reopens on Monday, in case you are too lazy to leave the base and just want a quick purchase of drinks, alcohol, sunblock etc.
The inn is also convenient to NAS Key West (about 2.5 to 3 hours away) in the event you want to break your drive down to the Keys (coming from North Florida).
We got a regular room (no other room was "available" even though I saw PLENTY that were vacant. ok they were probably reserved for the reserves... but whatever). We asked for a first floor room (none was available), 2nd floor room (none was available even though the guy before me just got a 2nd floor room at check in). The room was clean with fresh towels. The towels were rough on the skin though so just be prepared that they don't seem to use fabric softener. The trek up to the 3rd floor was a bit disappointing that the manager of the inns didn't take better care of the outside...the stairs need to be pressure washed and didn't look like it had been pressure washed in years. There were a couple of dead cockroaches on the stairs so don't be squeamish - remember they are already dead. At least the rooms were clean, and housekeeping cleaned it every day that we were there (5 days). The rooms were a bit small, but we were able to fit my hubby and I plus our 2 children 12 and 10 years old. We brought an air mattress, so the room was snug with all of our stuff! But we were only there to sleep, so it's ok.
The bathroom was small too. Several times I hit my foot / toe trying to get into the bathroom. You need special skills to get into the bathroom.
On our first day we saw 3 peacocks just in the parking lot - 2 of which were on top of someone's car. Before the peacocks flew away, they left a present on the car as well. It was funny for us, but I'm sure the car owner was not too impressed with those peacocks.
Great location just don't mind the front desk and the stairs up to the rooms.

We were very happy. We were not looking for luxury, just a clean room, comfortable bed in a perfect location. Run by people who care. And we found it all. Free breakfast had a nice variety and the option to sit out on a lovely patio.

You can’t beat the nice lodging at Homestead. We had a two-room suite that not only had a kitchenette, but also very comfortable couches and chairs in the living room area. We chose this lodging because of its proximity to the Everglades National Park. Highly recommend this lodging. This facility is only for active or retired military personnel.

My vacation started wonderfully and then my mother had a terrible fall and broke her ankle and needed surgery. Needless to say having an accident is terrible but to be so far from is even harder. The hotel staff has been so helpful and understanding. The room is clean and comfortable. The hotel even has a laundry mat that is free! And you can't beat the price. Homestead is very close to key largo! Also there are some wonderful sites to see in homestead. Don't pass up this little jewel.

As a retiree, I thank the Air Force for allowing me to stay here. You can't beat the price. Not fancy but met all our needs. Situated halfway between Biscayne National Park and the Everglades. Also in the middle between North and South Everglades. The staff was very professional and helpful. We did have trouble finding the base, and the address for the GPS was totally wrong. On weekdays a wonderful coffee shop and fitness center. (weekends closed)

Reservations office was on the ball with my keys and reservation document ready for signing. In and out in less than 1 minute! The room was ground floor as requested, spacious, was quite clean and comfortable. Typical base lodging amenities were all present, (TV, microwave, small refrigerator, small one cup coffee pot, hair dryer, ironing board etc!) Unfortunately, the cable TV was out! This technical problem was prominently posted in plain sight with apology at check-in. Inexpensive and comfortable pit stop for the night!

Good hotel in the Homestead area. My wife and I stayed here while visiting friends in Miami. Its a nothing fancy reasonably priced clean room. Room had all the basics; fridge, coffeed pot, microwave. No desk, but it did have a small table. We would stay here again if we go to Miami.

This place is disgusting, service is awful, not clean at all, one night someone broke into my room at 3 am in the morning because the front desk gave him the room that I've being staying. No toilet paper, I'm so mad I'm never staying here again, mocus on the bed from previous guess that they didn't clean. Just terrible I'm don't usually do negative reviews and I feel bad even doing it but I'm so mad that I had to, stay away from this place is not worth a penny.

My wife and stayed here instead of Miami while traveling as this was more affordable. Very nice staff as they also told us others stayed here to visit the keys or everglades. Nicely noted for our next visit! We stayed here to catch our cruise out of the Miami port.
As other reviewers have noted, don't expect much, but still a nice stay with comfortable rooms, decent WiFi, and good local restaurants. One thing to point out is the exchange is only open during the week and during drill weekends. During our stay, the exchange was closed. Other than that, give it a shot and you won't be disappointed.
