Otahuna is, simply put, a magical place. I spent two nights there last week, and every detail was just perfect. The owners (Miles and Hall) are the consummate hosts, and have assembled a remarkably warm, attentive staff (who address your every need, yet never hover or smother). The house has been restored with exquisite attention to detail and is filled...

We spent 3 nights at Otahuna with our 20 yr old daughter. Miles and Hall have created a dreamlike experience...the staff are thoroughly engaged with the guests...charming, warm, knowledgable and accommodating without being obsequious. Our meals were, in a word, outstanding!! Perfection is the only word that comes to mind and it will be hard to stay elsewhere after our...

We (party of eight) dined at Otahuna yesterday. From the outset, the experience was superb. Canapes and champagne in the drawing room followed by an exceptional three course meal - divine food in an amazing dining room. Thank you

It is a place where you feel like you have arrived home .. Miles and Hall and the whole team at Otahuna are gracious hosts. The grounds are a peaceful oasis to enjoy . The food is spectacular. Our first test of NZ and it did not disappoint. Everywhere we went on the island, they all know Otahuna. A fine...

We stayed overnight as part of a tour of South Island. My only regret is we did not stay longer. The house is lovely and has been restored true to its heritage but the best thing is the staff and how they make you feel. From meeting you at the steps on arrival, nothing is a problem for them. We...

What can anyone say other than Miles and Hall are wonderful hosts and Otahuna is perfection! All of the staff (kudos to Heather) wanted our stay to be perfect and it really was. Miles and Hall want you to be comfortable at Otahuna... I went out each day on day outings and returned late. I really didn't want to dress...

We (couple) stayed at Otahuna Lodge in Feb 2016 for two nights as a part of our 2 weeks long holiday in New Zealand. The Good: 1) Property: From the moment we stepped in Otahuna property, we have been nothing but wowed!! The lodge has its beautifully manicured lawn at the front and vegetable garden at the back. The heritage...

There are not enough words to explain how wonderful this Lodge is. It is a historic house. When we first arrived we were greeted by Miles, one of the owners, and another member of the staff. They opened the car doors for us and gave us a wonderful welcome. When we entered we were offered a drink and a tour...

We have stayed here for a few nights each year for the past few years and it never fails to delight. The attention to detail is second to non, the food is simply devine, coupled with superb wines and a beautiful historical setting. We will return again next year too. Every superlative offered by previous reviewers is justified. Otahuna is one of the finest lodges we've stayed at in the world. The beautiful lodge and its grounds, the flawless and exemplary service, the creative, deliciously crafted meals, the focused attention to detail, the thoughtful orchestration of social gatherings where the guests get to know one another, the sense of history...
