Although it is an older hotel, it had the best location to Fisherman Wharf than ANY other hotel. FREE PARKING with 24 hour coffee. The MOST COMFORTABLE beds and little in room special touches. Great price and I highly recommend.

This was a fantastic place to stay. We loved the comfortable beds, big closets, delicious chocolate! The location is safe, close to great restaurants, clean rooms. We would definitely stay here again!

Great location - walking distance to all the attractions on Fishermans Wharf / Pier 39 / Alcatraz and easy to catch trams and buses for things further away. The inn is clean and comfortable with friendly staff and free tea and coffee all day. The rooms were rather dated and in need of an update so don't expect luxury. There's...

I was in town for business in Fisherman's wharf and had to extend my stay a few times. Then hotel was very accommodating, the rooms were clean, and the property met my expectations. The front desk staff were professional and concierge like, more than I would have expected at this property. John, one of the evening staff was especially accommodating....

I was a little concerned after reading reviews saying the hotel had no air condition. Big mistake. This is a very traditional hotel. It does show its age, but, we were only here to sleep and shower. We had a great week in very comfortable beds, clean sheets, comfortable pillows and with the small windows open and the ceiling fan,...

This is a wonderful vacation within 3 blocks of Pier 39 and a half block off the main drag. We rented the penthouse and it was pricey but not for the amount of space we had. It is the best way to travel with our teenage boys because there was so much extra room. The balconies and the view of...

Decided to stay close to the pier for this vacation to San Francisco, looked up several hotels online. Choose The Wharf Inn and they did not disappoint. The staff is very nice and the rooms were nice and clean. They are basic rooms, the beds were very comfortable. We got a room with 2 king size beds, and the room...

My girlfriend and I stayed here on a trip to visit her sister in Monterey and tagged this portion of it for sightseeing. Our "view" from the room...was of another building. The window only functions to let people inside know whether or not the sun is out. The location is the best part of the hotel since Fisherman's Wharf is...

We stayed here for 2 nights, a last minute booking. As we had a rental car the free parking so close to Fishermen's Wharf was a bonus. The room was clean and well kept though it was a little tired. Good WiFi, enjoyed the complimentary coffee and newspaper, and the in-room snacks. There was some street noise but that's to...

Here are a few tips for this hotel.

1. No, They do not have A/C at this hotel. The reason for this is simple. Older places like this were built without. We are not the only hotel in San francisco that doesn't have it. You might need to check as the weather in SF is generally cool if not cold with a few days in the 80's per year but those are rare.

2. The hotel is only pet friendly to an extent. If you bring a pet and the 4 rooms that actually allows them are not available then you might get turned away. The reason for this is that anytime there is a pet in a room, that room needs to be closed for 3 days and can not be sold. Please make sure you call the hotel and check. And no, there is no grassy area at all. The place was not built to be a pet friendly facility. It only is because so many people are adamant on bringing their pets on vacation. The other thing is, that if you do bring a pet with you, that pet can not be left unattended anywhere on the property. This includes in your room, or in your car. If you leave the property, the animal must go with you. Also, there is a 25$ fee per pet per night. There is a limit of 2 pets and must be under 40lbs.

3. Parking: There are 39 spaces to 51 rooms. If you bring 2 cars with you and want to park them both, that unfortunately can't happen. The motel allows 1 car per room. If the lot is full you can still get free parking but...you will be double parked somewhere that isn't actually a parking space and the front desk will be required to take your keys. this is only in the cases of moving you into a spot should one come open, or moving your vehicle to let someone out that you are blocking in.

4. It is an older place. It is more of a motel. It opened in 1960. so its not a brand new place. However, the new owners are slowly working on upgrading it. Most of the rooms have gotten new furniture and mattresses in the last 2 months. The rooms are very basic. There again is no a/c. No fridges or microwaves. If you want a fridge you will need to book the Penthouse suite as it has a full kitchen. The other thing is that you might see a room on one of the online booking sites that shows a sofa in the room. There is a total of 2 rooms in the facility that has one. If that's what you want, you need to put in a request for it, though there is still not any guarantee you will get it. The motel does not guarantee that any requests you make will be met.

5. , if you make a reservation for a King size bed, and then check in wanting a room with 2 queen beds. We can't guarantee that will have that for you. If you want a room with a balcony, then that is what you will need to book as it is a separate room type from a King. Early check ins may or may not be able to be met and an . Again, you may request anything you wish, but the hotel can not guarantee any request. your best bet is to always call the hotel either during or after your reservation and see what is possible and what is not.

6. IF YOU WANT TO GET TO ALCATRAZ, book your tour several weeks in advance or you may not get in at all.
