It's a little on the old side, but once you get used to it there are a lot of nice touches in the wallpaper and furnishings that make it charming. The bathroom had updated faucets and shower heads and plenty of hot water. Front desk...More

This prestigious, historic hotel has been around the longest time without ever closing shop since 1902 in the City of San Francisco. It has been a private home and favorite hotel to many high profile political figures and dignitaries, artists and celebrities, and business leaders alike. We are a three-star luxury, boutique hotel and we practice industry-standard policies and procedures. Please feel free to call us direct at +1 415.441.1100 or send us an email inquiry should you have any questions.
We do not just charge guests randomly without their knowledge as some have implied. You are locked in to the exact rate(s) you agreed to pay at the time of booking. Other than the exact nightly room and taxes printed on your confirmation letter, each additional fixed charge is published expressedly, and we are available 24x7 to answer any questions or address any concerns that you might have pertaining to your hotel reservation. Our hotel policies are clearly stated in every reservation confirmation letter we send out and it is your duty as a consumer to check it carefully and ask if you need any clarification.
As practiced by most luxury hotels, when you stay at our hotel, we do obtain an additional credit card authorization as an incidental hold from every registered guest to cover any incidental charges that he/she may incur during his/her stay such as food and beverages from our restaurant and bar, room service orders, valet parking, honor bar charges, etc. If none of the services were utilized, and after everything has cleared, the standard credit card hold is released in full upon checkout.
Hope that clears things up for everyone!
