We had a very pleasant stay at the Fairmont, breakfast was great and the staff generally very helpful. We had 2 glitches - one was that one of the radiators leaked and soaked the carpet but the hotel were quick to deal with it and offered us a change of room. And the other was Dominic the doorman.... Everything about this luxury hotel was quintessential. The comfort of the room, the magnificent service, the elegance of the decor - even the SF earthquake could not shake this place. It's a bit off the beaten path, literally but so special ... if you are willing to pay the price.

Popped in for gin and tonics at this glorious hotel, marvelling at the style and elegance. Drinks were surprisingly reasonable compared to Raffles Singapore, and staff were very friendly. President Obama was staying in the hotel, so security was tight, but he obviously has good taste in hotels

This exclusive hotel leaves a lot to be desired, considering its name. Of all the Fairmonts, this is one I was looking most forward to, yet it was the one lacking in staff friendliness, service, quality of food was appalling and I found it lacking in space in resturants and service overall. Most dissapointng.

Great location. Very nice hotel. Exceptional front desk service. We needed to move rooms (noisy child next door) and the front desk was great about our request. Great tips on where to eat. Make sure you visit the Tonga Room in the hotel. They even printed our boarding passes for us. Only (minor) complaint is that they add a 15%...

Stayed two nights at the Fairmont and very much enjoyed the location and quality of this hotel. A top Nob Hill provides a quieter experience than many other areas of SF. The views from the Crown Room are fantastic. Many of the city's destinations are walkable to, but it can be strenuous getting back so a cable car, muni, or...

This clearly is one of the great classic and iconic hotels! Service is beyond doubt, rooms are spacious and clean, everything really outstanding. At the same time, I struggle with the old-world decor and style. It all feels a bit musty and outdated. Personal taste, I guess. There is no doubt in my mind though: This is a great hotel!

This beautiful iconic hotel has the most wonderful views of the city! We were fortunate to experience a 16th floor Tower Room that's view took our breathe away! Loved the location and even experienced a film shoot while we were there. The staff were super helpful, the lobby beautifully decorated with fabulous ambiance.

Large rooms, classy old world décor in the public spaces with a modern slant in the rooms, etc. "Outsourced" on site gym is packed with equipment with convenient hours. Service levels throughout are high and in line with the expectations of a plush hotel. Unjustified "nuisances": VERY high parking fee, internet fee, most annoyingly the gym fee, 15% automatic gratuity...

What can I say? I love this hotel. We love Fairmont/Raffles hotels in general but this one is maybe in my top 3. It's a beautiful and classy hotel with beautiful interior design. Steps away from Chinatown and Union Square. I highly recommend this hotel

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
