Nestled in the heart of the city, the Marriott Vacation Club® in San Francisco garners praise for its blend of modern amenities and inviting atmosphere, with special mentions of its spotless rooms and stylish decor. While the location is a hit for its accessibility to Fisherman's Wharf, some guests suggest opting for upper floors to minimize noise disturbances. The staff's exceptional service is frequently commended, although opinions on value for price and room improvements show some variance among travelers.

Read the reviews and was a little apprehensive, but all for naught. Great little hotel, spacious room (we are here for two more days) with only one wall dressed in industrial chic. Deliberately asked for a room without a view because in my experience that view comes with noise. Our room has no view to speak of (#356) but also gets no outside noise. All the usual stuff provided in the room (small fridge etc.) no restaurant or real breakfast served here (remember it's a MVC and not a full fledged Marriott , but there is a full fledged Marriott right across the street). Downstairs in the lobby they provide Starbucks coffee and some small pastries for breakfast but there are ample full breakfast places within a block (I eat at Pat's Cafe as I need a good breakfast but don't eat lunch). There are a large number of choices for a full dinner in all directions and they cover all economic ranges, but this is San Francisco so nothing will be very cheap. Dinner on Pier 39 at Fog Harbor Fish House for two with 4 drinks was a little over $100 but was delicious and the hotel gives you a discount card that covers a lot of eating places and such and takes 15% off most food items. The neighborhood is a good one, nothing sketchy at all and San Francisco blocks are considerably smaller than New York blocks so the 3 blocks to Fisherman's Wharf takes a lot less time than it would in NYC. Yes the car is stored for $58 a night but that is not as expensive as it might seem compared to other hotels right next door. There are public parking buildings in the area, but I( have no idea what they will run you. Snacks available after 3 in the lobby..all manner of chocolate chip cookies and small candy bars and we've had Ghiradelli hot chocolate each night about 7. Weather gets cool at night (we are only 3 blocks from the ocean after all) but has been in the 60s the two days we have been here. I can't tell you about cost since we there on points, but it's great for us.

I booked the MVC Pulse for 2 nights for a business trip. It was one of the more cost effective hotels in the City. It met my needs for the trip but does have a few drawbacks.

The hotel itself is within walking distance of a lot of restaurants which was good since I did not have a car. The hotel rooms have a kinda modern/industrial theme. I was in a two queen room and it was spacious enough. The bed was comfortable too.

There were some noise issues from the street traffic starting about 5 am each morning. To the hotel’s credit, they provide ear plugs in the room.

The biggest drawback is for a business traveler the room is not designed with much workspace. There is no dedicated desk, and while there is a table that can be used for a workspace there are no power outlets in that location and rather than a chair, there is a metal stool at the table.

As long as one is not planning on doing a lot of work at the hotel I would recommend it as a decent option close to downtown.

Within easy walking distance of Fisherman’s Wharf, the Pulse is in an ideal location for visitors to SF. The lobby and common space is fine, being quite new. Clean and bright. The rooms however have a distinctly industrial feel. The wall behind the bed has wallpaper looking like concrete ! Steel drawers and table suggest, I guess, a theme of Alcatraz ! But they clean and comfortable. The parking fee (valet only) is a bit of a pain at $60 per day

A Club Pulse by Marriott is a low amenity property in a good urban location. Be prepared for a small room, no food or beverage service on property and no kitchen (these are not vacation club villas). To me these feel more like upscale hostel rooms. So, this Pulse in SF is in a fun location near fisherman’s wharf and the famous Lombard street. There is free coffee in the morning, and the staff is friendly. It’s clean, decor is on trend. But I couldn’t get past feeling like a piece of wood stacked in a pile — like this is a place built to house bus loads of group tour clients. It is not a good trade if you’re a vacation club owner. Once you pay for parking you might conclude it’s a better deal and more fun stay at a Fairfield Inn. The money you save can pay for a lot of Uber rides and you’ll feel more at home…

Unfortunately I haven't had as much time to review places lately but felt I had to write something on the Marriott Vacation Pulse in SF's Fisherman's Wharf if for nothing but to help push them up TA'S rankings. The hotel is a short 3 block walk to Fisherman's Wharf and we chose it for this convenience as we only had a half day in SF and wanted to get the most out of our day (we've been to SF before). Check in was smooth and easy. The staff here is among the friendliest as a group of any hotel staff we've ever encountered. We wrote the same on our Priceline review. Everybody we encountered was extremely friendly. Then we went up to our room and the room was super spacious with a couch, a table and chairs, a large flat screen TV, a coffeemaker, a fridge, a safe and a normal sized bathroom. We liked our room a lot. The hotel has a fitness center and an outdoor space with a firepit though we did not avail ourselves to these amenities. Check out was also smooth. Only one drawback is the cost of parking - 60 bucks woo wee it's pricey. We would definitely come back here if our travels take us to SF again.

Not worth the price in any form whatsoever. A lot of noise comes from the hallways, and even more noise comes through the windows. Rooms are fine. Customer service is questionable. I currenly have a case number with the company because I am trying to get refunded for them charging me twice for one night. Parking is $65. If you are staying in San Francisco, stay in the buisness district, you will be much happier.

I wish there was an option to give this hotel a higher score!! Initially we were a little apprehensive based on some previous negative reviews and the fact that although I altered the dates after booking, all of the confirmation emails contained the original dates and I couldn't get reassurance that the dates had actually been changed.

When we arrived we found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. I explained the situation re booking dates to Jazz at the front desk and she apologised for the miscommunication and told me she would resolve it (which she promptly did).

The hotel was immaculate - and I mean Immaculate!! Cleaning staff were everywhere.

The complimentary laundry room was a big bonus for a backpacking family. Security was excellent and there was complimentary tea and coffee each morning.

I went to use the laundry room one evening and a member of staff who had finished work took the time to show me how everything worked. One morning, I went to get a complimentary tea only to find there were no tea bags, a staff member quickly went off to find some and came back with the tea bags and some madelines for the family.

Every staff member that I encountered over our 4 night stay said hello as they passed.

The courtyard was a lovely space for families, shame it closes so early but I understand the need to keep noise levels down.

I really don't understand some of the poor reviews here, I guess it's down to individual expectations.

I believe that if your going to leave a negative review you owe it to the business to explain why, so here goes. I would not recommend the Marriott Vacation Club Pulse to anyone for the following reasons:

1) if you are a Marriott Rewards member and have come to expect the extras that come with your loyalty, you will get nothing, zero, zilch for your membership here. They have Marriott in their name, but your Marriott Rewards status means nothing here.

2) We booked two rooms and were told at the time of booking that we could have adjoining rooms and this would be arranged when we checked in. At check in, we were told that we could not get adjoining rooms because the rooms we were assigned could not be connected to one another. We were also told that rooms are assigned at the corporate level and that the hotel has no discretion to change rooms. What made this so frustrating, is that when we arrival at the rooms, they both had adjoining doors, but the rooms were not next to each other. In addition, we found a plugged sink and broken refrigerator.

3) The rooms are very small with strange metal cabinets and drawers for storage. I think they were going for a theme that represents the Fisherman’s Wharf area, perhaps Alcatraz Prison.

4) The main goal of the employees at this hotel is to get you into a sales pitch to buy a time share. It got to the point where when we passed through the lobby we would avoid any eye contact with anyone with a badge. I realize that many people come to this hotel because they get a free room and then are obligated to sit through the sales promotion. We had paid for our rooms, so the high pressure sales tactics were unwarranted.

As a Marriott Platinum Elite member, nothing about this hotel is consistent with what I have come to expect from Marriott. Do yourself a favor, for about the same price, stay at the Marriott next door, this is where we moved after a few uncomfortable days at the so called Vacation Club.

We were there for my birthday! Grigoryi (GIO), the manager, really took care of us. He is really a class act. He made our stay so very enjoyable. Any bumps in the road, Gio smoothed them out. He is really an asset to Marriott. All of the staff there were top notch and so very helpful. Our room was beautiful. Beds very comfortable. Only downside was the lighting in the room, a little dark for my taste. You can open the windows. We had a courtyard view on the 3rd floor and the room was ver quiet. Great location to the Wharf and all of the amenities. We didn’t rent a car, parking expensive. We were able to take the bus to everywhere we wanted to go for $5 for 2 adults and the buses run on time. Great San Francisco experience.

This is a large and modern hotel located a few blocks from Fisherman's wharf. Our room was on the interior courtyard, which is well equipped but too cold and windy to really enjoy. Although we didn't have much of a view it was quieter than rooms on the street. The room is well equipped, the bathroom has a monsoon shower head that lives up to its promise with a large volume of water. There is a small fridge in the room and a coffee maker, I wish they had real half and half instead of the artificial coffee creamers. They offer free coffee in the lobby until 10.30am, that's to be recommended though once again they don't have real milk or half and half. Staff were friendly and efficient. The F tram is just two blocks away and will take you to BART or Downtown. You can walk a few blocks up Columbus to visit North Beach and further along you arrive in Chinatown. Another plus is you are only two blocks from Trader Joes.
