The location of this hotel is awesome, within walking distance to major touristy sights in San Francisco, from Fisherman's Wharf, Coit Tower and Lombard Street. The staff is extremely Helpful, specifically Alfonso, a concierge, who provided excellent restaurant suggestions and activities or our stay with two small kids. The rooms were standard Marriott quality, with excellent room service. Car parking...

The hotel is right at the Wharf and located two blocks away from Safeway and In and Out Burger! All the important places to visit. The staff was very helpful and great to talk to. The location is great for vacation and the area was full of visitors. I would consider staying there again.

We stayed hear on a tour for 2 nights, so I'm not sure on the pricing of the rooms. The rooms however were very nice. We had breakfast there one day and it was quite good. The staff at the hotel have to be the friendliest that I ever had at a hotel. Everyone you meet had a cheery greeting....

The hotel is centrally located for tourists and is clean. That's about it. Rooms are average. I find it ridiculous that Marriotts charge for wifi in rooms. I don't want to go down to the lobby, particularly as this lobby was windy. Breakfast buffet average and pricey. There are basically no amenities - no sundry shop, no coffee shop, no...

While I gave this hotel an average score, the location is the best. It's close to everything that is San Francisco. From here it is a short walk to the Wharf, Pier 39 and the rest of the attractions. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. To avoid the parking fees, we turned in our car at the...

Somehow I scored this property on Priceline for $130! We arrived at 10am and the front desk girl was fabulous! Said there was a room ready and gave us a double room (my two kids and myself) and on the top floor! Great since it was Priceline! Awesome location and very clean and nice! Valet parking was way high, but...

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
