As a rule, my family and I only stay at chain hotels, however I went against my better judgement and booked the Great Highway Inn for six nights. While our stay was not a disaster, it also was not extraordinary. The proximity to the beach and Golden Gate Park are by far this hotel's biggest virtues. However, be advised in...

We decided to stay inexpensively in San Francisco and use the money we saved on some nice food and drinks...so we chose the Great Highway Motor Inn. The motel room was very large and clean. The front desk people were very friendly (most of them). The parking was cheap/easy. A lot of family and traveler guests. The ocean is right...

Not the fanciest of motels and you can see the wear of years around the edges, but a very spacious room, clean, quiet, and everything in working order. It is so close to the beach that in the quiet of the night, with the window open, the hum of the waves can be heard. Want to spend the night by...

We booked this as it was by far the most affordable option for our family of 6 in San Francisco. You are right by the beach and quite close to the golden gate park. The muni stop is also close, but plan on a long ride into town to see any of the sites. We had a jr suite room...

First time in San Francisco and we did not want to spend a lot of money on a motel. This had good reviews so thought we'd give it a try. It is across from the ocean which is a plus. Upon first arriving I thought I had messed up big time. It is an old hotel and the street it...

Typical motel accomodation with large airy rooms and microwave and fridge. The hotel is quite dated but the location is excellent if you want to travel in to the city each day to visit the sites. We paid 32 dollars for a 3 day travel pass. This was excellent value for money. The Muni "N" terminus is a 5 minute...

Found this place on Hotels.com and was looking for a reasonably priced stay for 5 days...this is it. The room was clean. Though dated, the interior was comfortable. Parking wasn't an issue. Right on the beach and next to Golden Gate Park. For the price, it is the best family motel for San Francisco.

Stayed here recently, and will definitely return. Rooms were very spacious and recently renovated. Staff was very friendly, we extended our 1 day stay to 3, and even though they were pretty much booked full, they managed to keep us in the same room at the same rate even though the published rate had gone up by $50 a night....

We wanted next to Golden Gate Park. The rate was $100 less per night than the Stanyan Park Hotel. The beautiful beach across the street was a bonus. The necessities of the room were very clean, but there were chocolate fingerprints on the bathroom light switch plate. The more I looked the more built up dirt and dust I found....

Stayed here for the first time. We were on the 3rd floor (remember there are no elevators) but the view was worth it. We asked for a double room. The 2nd bed was in it's own room which was great. These rooms are not fancy, but they are clean & the location can't be beat.
