From the first step into this colorful, eclectic wonderful hotel I felt at home. Theo & Gio were on staff that day -both very professional, informative and personable. The whole staff from front desk to cleaning were friendly & helpful--The rooms were cozy ,charming &relaxing-not over the top but warm and inviting--wine by the fire place each evening gave you a chance...

We stayed two nights, thank god I brought ear plugs.... if it wasn't for the wonderful staff, I would not give it three stars. Great service. The hotel is very old, but well taken care of... vintage comes to mind. No A/C by the way. The walls are paper thin so hear everything from your neighbor. Please also note that...

I came back mainly because of the value you get at the Carlton. It is located a few blocks away from the main shopping area, bordering a quite dodgy neighborhood. Apart from that and the fact the walls and doors are paper thin (bring earplugs) it is a great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Free wifi is always...

Spent 4 nights here after a luxury cruise so it was going to be a bit of a let down however good! The staff were friendly and willing, the free wifi was a bonus. The location is a little further away from the touristy spots and restaurants than other similar places but nevertheless walkable, if you didnt object to vagrants...

The room has good size, but the furniture are old and so is the carpet. The hotel has a lot of new age oriental mystic figures/pictures. In my room there is a large picture of Buddha head, which is really creepy. The Wi-Fi speed is extremely slow, the wired connection is not much better. Some staffs are very friendly, while...

Hotel Carlton prides itself on its "green" creds -- solar powered, lots of recycling, flitered water dispensers, etc. it's all true, but i think what sets this nicely-decorated, surprisingly comfy downtown hotel apart is its fantastic service. the front desk was consistently friendly, helpful, and cheerful -- no matter what hour -- and the valet/bell service was always super fast....

This is more of a casual, leisure type hotel. It's also a very charming but older hotel. JDV hotels vary allot so check out the reviews and their website.

We recently stayed at Hotel Carlton. We found the rooms to be very clean and larger than many we have stayed at in other hotels in San Francisco. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a wine reception from 5:30 - 6:00 pm daily and on the Saturday we were there they even had someone playing music. The...

Hotel Carlton is a very funky, cute hotel. The decor was great and had a homely/well travelled feel. The staff were helpful in suggestions for the best way to see San Francisco as we were only there for a few days. The rooms were small but well appointed, plus we were not there to just sit in the room. There...
