While checking in, the clerk interrupted my check in three times to serve / speak with someone else, who was a senior colleague from the Kimpton Group. The senior colleague should have know better to not interrupt a guest's check in. The check in clerk was trying to impress the senior colleague by serving him. Both forgot who the real...

Hi, Joseph H. Thanks for the four-star review, and it's good to see you enjoyed some of the "little treats" in store for guests here. As for those two service mis-steps, I'd love the chance to learn more if you have a moment to drop me a line. Thanks so much!

Good location if you want to stay out of the touristy areas, but close to restaurants and nightlife. Across from Japantown, close to Fillmore where you have a great selection of restaurants and bars, and still a short Uber ride away from the tourist areas. They're very dog-friendly, and parking in the hotel is reasonable, unlike the typical SF hotels,...

Fantastic! Thanks so much, Visual. Your review really captures the perks of our location-- and, YES, parking for $10-20 less than Union Square is one of them, as is our larger room size. Thanks for checking us out and hope to see you again!

I don't usually think about the easy-going nature of a staff, but the personable, casual manor of the team at this hotel made us feel really comfortable and welcome. The Kimpton Buchanan is in a terrific neighborhood, relatively quiet for a busy city, 2 blocks away from both good Japanese restaurants and from the shopping/eating mecca of Fillmore Street. Being...

Thank you, Rusee! I feel famous now :). It was nice to meet you during your visit, albeit under the circumstances of that huge San Francisco power outage! I also received your guest survey today and we are looking into that noise because a toilet rattle is not normal and must be addressed. I appreciate you taking the time to...

We stayed here for one night. It's in Japantown, a quiet area, a bit out of the way. The rate was good, not great. Our first room was right next to a restaurant fan, but we asked for another room, and they moved us right away to a much quieter room. It was very pleasant, and fairly large for a...

Hi, there, zebramom, and thanks for visiting! It's always fun to welcome a Kimpton fan to our neighborhood. I'm glad you had a nice, quiet visit and enjoyed the spaciousness of the room. We know square footage can be hard to come by in San Francisco :).

This truly was an exceptional experience. Reception outdid themselves even tho we arrived bedraggled and exhausted with a three year old in tow. After a delicious complimentary glass of wine(timing is everything) we found our beautifully decorated room. We were very appreciative of the onsight cafe/restaurant.

Front staff extremely accommodating as last minute change required an extended stay. Would definitely stay again. Japan town is across the street and a number of nice looking restaurants a block away.

Nice boutique hotel. Room was a nice size and well maintained although cigarette butts and scattered almonds could have been cleaned from the balcony. Decorating was not to my taste but did not detract from our stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking at the hotel is expensive (typical of downtown hotels) although cheaper alternatives are nearby.

Hi, 443donk, and thanks so much for staying with us! I'm glad you enjoyed the room size and found things maintained well aside from that oversight on the balcony. We'll have to make sure to give the inspectresses some reminders on checking outside, and of course if you have a moment to drop me a line with the date and...

We had an 8th floor room, which had a great view. The only negative is there are fans or equipment on the roof and we could hear them. Also, parking is tight and pricey, and not guaranteed, although there's another lot down the street.

Hi, Mariagrover, and thanks for giving me a chuckle with your headline. I am not sure we have been called hippie before and YES, we have definitely not been called dippy, thankfully :). I'm so glad you enjoyed the views from our eighth floor. Guests do not usually report noise from the roof, so we'll have a look at fan...

My wife and I wanted a reasonably priced hotel in a good location to enjoy San Francisco. Good design is really important to us which is how we picked the Kimpton Buchanan. The hotel and rooms are stylish and a good size, our room was quiet and the pillow top bed was excellent. Great location close to all the shops...

Hi, Paul H! I'm glad that our design drew you in, and you and your wife enjoyed the style and boutique feel here. Of course quiet and a great bed are key, too! Our mattresses are the Kimpton pillowtops that I think strike that perfect balance between firm and soft. On your next trip, you may want to check out...

We stayed for four nights and loved it! Our room was plenty big enough for two adults and two children and despite the Cherry Blossom Festival being in full swing, we had no issue with noise. We travelled around on foot and by bus and the location was perfect. The only thing missing was our Kimpton Rewards bag thingy on...
