We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the stay. We got room 715 first, and asked to be switched to a room with a better view than a wall with lots of bird droppings. We were moved right away to a nicer room, 510. Courteous, friendly staff. The room was on the small side (to be expected in a big...

Nice place. Nice location. Many shops in walking distance. It's better to ask for a room on the higher floors if you want nice view. I'd like to appreciate the help of the hotel staff. Vera (Front Desk) was very friendly, helpful and nice.

Just a block away from the Union square, the Mystic gives you the perfect start to explore the city. The room was small but cozy, nice big shower. The only thing missing in the room is a coffee/tea set but having Starbucks next door solve this problem. Breakfast was ok, not so much variety. Being only one night in the...

Stayed here on a weekend night for a show at the Warfield. Parking is across the street and convenient and the hotel is within blocks of tons of downtown venues. The front desk staff was expeditious and helpful. Rooms are small; typical of SF boutique hotels but are tastefully appointed. Our window had a fire escape so we enjoyed the...

This hotel was a bit mystery to us. We checked in and searched our room, it was horrible! The room was smelling horrible, and there were 20+ mosquitos in the room. We managed to kill few and found out mosquitos had recently bit someone and were filled with blood, yuck! We were able to stay in the room full 5...

Working in the music industry, we are always in needs of hotel rooms for the artist we work with. This is a perfect choice for those ones looking for a modern yet cozy hotel at a good price. Located in the heart of downtown SF, with an awesome restaurant and a busy first class bar. Rooms are not to big,...

Great small and cozy hotel in a very heart of San Fran, located 2 minutes walk from Union Square. Rooms are not very big, but ok size for a small city hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful! Parking is, as almost everywhere in the city center, very pricey, should you travel by car. The parking house on the opposite side...

people at the front desk were awesome. We paid for a mini suite. We got 3 rd floor. When we entered our room and looked out the frosted glass windows with a flimsy lock on window we noticed we were street level. We did not feel safe. We went down stairs and paid even more for a suite (which these...

The rooms are a little small (but I believe it is standard on SF standards?), nevertheless the rooms and bathrooms were clean. Breakfast was quite good. Quite disappointed we didn't have time to sample the cocktails at the bar that I heard are really good! Walking distance to China Town and other shopping areas.

Spacious rooms, clean, friendly staff and excellent breakfast (included) made it a great stay. The craft cocktails at the Burritt Lounge are quite unique and tasty. Very charming and interesting hotel. I will stay again on future visits to SF.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mystic Hotel Union Square San Francisco by Charlie Palmer is a smart, sleek retreat situated in the heart of the city's busiest neighborhoods. Conveniently located just one block from the iconic cable car line in the middle of three key destinations – Union Square, Chinatown and the Financial District — Mystic Hotel offers a convenient, comfortable and unique modern boutique hotel experience in a historic location. With a contemporary look and feel, our accommodations are designed to reflect the changing need of today's traveler. Enjoy high-touch service and an ideal Union Square location, perfect for travelers looking to experience all the adventures of San Francisco. Like a private club, enjoy handcrafted cocktails in the Burritt Room, the intimate film noir-inspired bar named for Burritt Alley, where detective Sam Spade's partner Miles Archer was gunned down in The Maltese Falcon. Then, step into the speakeasy vibe of renowned Chef Charlie Palmer’s adjoining Burritt Tavern, where walled-in and curtained booths create dark corners for private conversations and Executive Chef Luke Knox turns out classic food like steaks and chops done right. Knox also takes advantage of Bay area's tremendous green markets as well as the extraordinary offerings from local food artisans in menus built around prized regional specialties from Dungeness crab to West Coast oysters. That's what we like about San Francisco: it's up to the minute and still in the moment. ... more   less
