Just finished a five night stay in San Francisco splitting our time between a standard room at Stanyan Park hotel (2 nights) and the larger suites (3 nights). Both were very comfortable - with the suite being larger than most San Fran 2-bedrooms, and excellent for our family (2 adults and 1 child) and would have even worked for a...

A cozy warm and friendly place to stay. Across the street from Golden Gate Park, at the edge of the Haight district with easy parking across the street and easy access to anywhere. I read that the Stanyan is also a designated historic landmark. The desk crew was great and very patient. We especially want to thank Tony for his...

We were in town for a big family wedding and the hosts suggested this as an option. Therefore a number of the wedding party stayed here. There were so many questions and issues as many had never been to San Francisco before but the front desk team handled it easily and professionally. They were very friendly and very good at...

While the Stanyan Park Hotel is not super elegant or luxurious, it is nonetheless a fine place to stay with clean, comfortable rooms, helpful desk staff, full breakfast, good wifi, and excellent location next to Golden Gate Park. We chose the Stanyan Park Hotel because it was close to our son's appartment. We were without a car, so didn't have...

I came here for a conference and really liked this hotel. The prices were good, rooms clean and comfortable and loved being right next to Golden Gate Park. The staff was really nice and prompt. I liked their afternoon tea/snack and breakfast service- all included. Although it's a cab ride to get to union square, it's a really nice area...

You know, the place might not have the best front counter staff but it's a cute place. The guy we had checked us in was alright, after all this is not The Waldorf Astoria. This is a historical boutique hotel, and it has been restored very nicely. The rooms are smaller size but it is very clean. Housekeeping does a...

It makes me very sad to write this review, but feel others should know of my experience. The hotel itself is fine. The rooms are smallish, but comfortable. Breakfast is fine. Unfortunately, the management and some of the staff are not fine. My mother and I stayed here on Saturday night, August 17, 2014. We were there to visit our...

We have stayed at the Stanyan twice now, both times we had great experiences. On our most recent visit, we checked in to our room but it was on the East side of the building. The hotel wasn't sold out so we requested to stay on the quieter side (West side) and were accommodated with an upgraded and bigger room....

We chose it because of its location adjacent to Golden Gate Park, as a small hotel with some character, for its reasonable rates, and somewhere we would be pleased to stay for seven nights. We booked a "Deluxe Queen room with a view of the park" (actually it's a view of some large trees at the edge of the park)....

This hotel was really quaint and awesome. The time we got there the so called manager was fighting with the young lady sooo off to a bad start straight away. Then I went to check in and this guy had bad attitude. We found out that he hated it there and was leaving but even so he would have done...

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighbourhood Profile
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighbourhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
