I really enjoyed my stay here. It's clean and quiet as hostel goes. The location is fabulous, in Fort Mason by the ocean. I enjoyed walking along the shoreline. I stayed in a 4-women dorm room, and my roommates were quiet and considerate. I never found that I had to wait long for facilities, though I did stay Sun-Thur. There...

Thank you ever so much for this incredibly kind review of our hostel! I am so excited to find out that you enjoyed your time in our modest home on the hill so much. What great tips you’ve left for future guests – I agree about taking a taxi back into Fort Mason at night. Although the area is quite...

We stayed at Hi Hostel Fisherman's Wharf for 4 nights and have no complaints. Our room was with 10 other people, and as far as hostels go, our stay was quite comfortable. The mattresses are good, the linens are provided and clean. The hostel is an old converted military barracks, so it has character, very high ceilings which give the...

Thank you so much for this stellar review of the hostel, I am bowled over by your kind and comical words! I think you should write the description for our website ;) Seriously though, it pleases me greatly to find out that you had such an amazing time while visiting us. All of the staff members here at HI-Fisherman’s Wharf...

The relaxed location next to the bay makes it a good place to start and end the day. Location looks very safe, so you can take a walk in the evening or arrive late. And it is not far away from the pier to depart to Alcatraz: you can walk there. My choice was a room with shared bunks, as...

Thank you so much for this incredible review of the hostel! I am extremely pleased to find out that you had such a great time while you were here, even if it was short visit. I especially like your comment about the piano music spreading throughout the hostel – what a romantic way to think about it! Hope you can...

I stayed in a five bed female dormitory. It was cramped, but there was a large locker under the bed for all my things. Plenty of bathrooms, large kitchen, a cafe, lounge area, cinema. The staff were friendly and there was free stuff to sign up for every day. The location is great - quiet, but just around the corner...

Thank you for this kind review of the hostel! It sounds like you had a wonderful experience when you were here – this is exactly what we wanted to happen and was our plan all along! I appreciate your honest feedback about the 5 bed dorm – we have actually been thinking about taking a bed out and making it...

It is my understanding that the State of California has legalized the use of marijuana and I, as a progressive thinker, am all for individuals pursuing the things in life which make them happy. However, my employer requires drug testing and any positive result will result in my employment with them being terminated. This hostel was filled with with the...

Thank you for your feedback about your visit with us. It is disheartening to hear that you discovered marijuana smoke in the building. We have a zero tolerance policy and take drug use within the hostel very seriously. I am concerned that the staff was unaware of this occurance as we would have ejected the smoker immediately after investigating the...

Checking in was easy, the room was cheap, although I had an 8 bed all female hostel and all of my roommates were asleep by 9pm, it was still very comfortable and cozy. They had a fireplace in the lounge with free books, free wifi, and the staff is so laid back and helpful. The next day I woke up...

7 of us stayed in a 10 bed dorm with no air con or fan. There was only 1 PowerPoint with a multi adapter in the room so you had to leave your stuff by that bunk. With the cost for the night it was the most overpriced place we stayed in the whole month we were in the USA....

Thank you for your review of the hostel! I apologize that you were not 100% satisfied with your stay. Hopefully you and your roommates were able to open the windows to get some air in your room as it is extremely rare in our city for there to be air conditioning or a fan in a building as old as...

This is a great hostel. I stayed in a private room which has one full sized bunk bed and one single. Not much else in the room except for a chair, small table and lockers (bring your own lock). But oh the view...it is fantastic! Could see the entire SF Bay including Alcatraz Island right from our window also could...

With 12 to a room and $50 per person per night, the hostel was a bit overpriced. But I guess you are paying for the location. It was easy to walk into the city, along the wharf, towards GG bridge. There was a good supermarket just 10mins walk away. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen facilities good, and the hostel...

Thank you for your review of the hostel! I appreciate that you took the time to leave us some honest feedback about your experience here. Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
