The Dakota is pretty much exactly as you would expect. The highlight of the experience staying here, however, is definitely the free dinners. Chilli night and Pasta night are delicious! The staff cooks in the kitchen so you get a FREE home-cooked meal and you can meet other guests. Plus, the food is always very high-quality, similar to what you...

Its decent... Great location, old school feel, but nothing special. If you don't have a choice or wanna stay for only 1 or 2 nights.. I've stayed in few other places in the area whenever i came to SF - some better, some worse. This one is middle of the pack.

It was...ok. Very old, very tiny, the scariest elevator i've ever ride. Great location, tho. Breakfast was meh. I woldn't say it's the worst place I could stay, but it wasn't good either. Besides, they're not flexible at all for early and late check-ins/outs. Plan to get on time.

Be very careful in staying am Adelaide Hostel or Dakota Hotel, well located, plus the service is very bad, not to mention the staff who are all on drugs, are always at the door, using and selling drugs. My friend, was hosted by an official of Dakota Hotel, and it muiro serious, local drug and sexual harassment, care.

The taxi driver had no idea where the hotel was, but once I got there I was pleasantly surprised. I picked a mixed bed room and was just assuming it was predominantly a hostel but it's a pretty even split between shared and private rooms. There is a lift, but it's very old (one of the oldest functioning ones in...

Reading Lonely Planet before my trip left me no doubt that the Adelaide Hostel would be a good choice for my stay in San Francisco. So I booked a dorm bed on their website and looked forward to my first night on my California road trip. When I arrived at the small courtyard where the entrance is located I was...

I knew San Francisco was not going to be cheap for accommodation, but $210 for a double room for one night in this place is extortionate. Booked through booking.com & price they quote as being "price you pay" is not accurate, as of course you have to pay VAT and taxes on top. For over $200 a night I would...

We had a family 'suite' on the 5th floor for 2 nights for a short trip to San Fransisco as part of a longer holiday in USA. This is a very old building which has retained much of its character and with that comes its good and bad points. The downstairs lounge area is pleasant and quaint but the only...

Thank you for your review! It's true that lodging in San Francisco is very expensive and we offer an alternative to normal hotel prices while still providing a prime location in the heart of the city. We're sorry that the elevator was out of service the day you checked out. When that happens we always have some one come in...

We spent two nights with the family (three teenage kids) at the Dakota. The building is old, the windows insulate no sound nor cold from the streets but still this was one of our best stays during our road trip. We had a junior suite that was not cheap but ok considering the general price level in SF. I would...

I booked a private room at the Adelaide Hotel but turns out our room was in another building called The Dakota Hotel. We checked in at the Adelaide but had to walk 2 min to the Dakota Hotel. Really not that inconvenient but some clarification on the website would be nice? We took a nifty lift up to our room...

Dear onherway10, thank you for booking and staying with us! Indeed, the Adelaide has two other buildings around the same corner, operated by the same staff and owners. We are glad you enjoyed the Dakota building, it is one of the many buildings in the area with a classical Victorian architecture, and during the years we have tried to be...
