First time at this Marriott property and I was satisfied. The location is great, very walkable.

It has all the qualities and comforts of your traditional Marriott, yet slightly more upscale. The service is truly what sets this hotel a part. The Doormen and valet were top-notch.

We ran into a snag with our room. We were given a room that was set into a cove/nook thing with another room’s door facing ours and about 1 foot a part. Our neighbor had people coming in and out of the door 5-10x an hour for about 4 hours, it was so annoying. Albeit, this was at 5pm, but still not relaxing. Sounded like their guests were talking inside our room and slamming our door. I called the front desk after the millionth slam, and I was given the run around and left a voicemail for the manager on duty. And I was told they would call me back. I’m still waiting on that call...

Well, luckily the slamming stopped and all was fine after that. We orderEd room service, which was quite tasty and only took 30 mins to arrive.

The room was nice, and clean, and comfy. Nice view. I would just ask for a room that’s not directly in that nook thing. It was too loud.

Overall, it’s a nice place and has the comforts and cleanliness that you expect from Marriott.

We were in San Francisco with our travel besties to celebrate a birthday and we stayed at the Marriott union square. Easy travel since we had carry on bags so we took Bart to a stop 5 minutes away and walked to the hotel.

This was my first time to be here in a non work related capacity and it was pleasant.

Easy check-in, helpful housekeeping who thoughtfully brought the extra coffee packets we needed through the stay, comfortable beds and a quiet floor - absolutely will stay again if we do another trip HERE.

Am a Platinum Elite and was staying for 5 nights.

Location was great, only a block from Union Square and all the shopping areas. Cable cars were also very easily accessible from this location.

The initial check-in experience was not very welcoming and the guy seemed rather disgruntled that we checked in so late. We just needed a good sleep so took whatever he could give. The following morning I requested for an upgrade. Jeff was much better at handling the situation and said this could have easily been sorted out the previous night as an upgrade was available. Another notable mentioned was Kelley who was very switched and always made sure each encounter was pleasant and hospitable.

Breakfast was at the Concierge Lounge at Level 28 to which had a spectacular view of the city. Food offerings were alright but what made the experience great was the hospitality by Abdul and Bhu, both of whom were exceptional and smiled all the time.

The sad part was that the lounge was only open for breakfast on Monday till Friday. Nothing was offered outside these hours which was a bit of a bummer

Housekeeping standards were excellent and beds very comfortable after a long day in the city. They even greeted me in the morning which was nice.

Would consider this hotel again in future by virtue of its location.

Dirty rooms, tacky decor, unhelpful staff. the room was ready at 8am we when we got there in the morning but they wanted to charge an extra fee for early check in so we decided to leave our bags at concierge and go around town while we waited for the 4pm check in. As Bonvoy members you'd think they waive the $50 fee to check in early especially if the room was already available and "clean". The concierge damaged our souvenirs. The soap bottles were empty, there was pink mold in the shower. Part of the resort hotel fee we had to pay $150/night included a trolley ticket voucher that you had to get by a certain time in the AM. We were only staying there one night and couldn't get the voucher even though we were there at 8am but again, they required we check in at 4pm and then they wouldn't honor the voucher pass. What's the point in offering it then? The staff could've been more lenient or helpful but they were crass instead zero service skills. My husband has been back and forth messaging with the manager there for a month to get our points back. It was like 60,000 lints plus an extra cash amount for one night. After the experience and the ridiculous price paid for this dated hotel, I do not recommend it to anyone. Plus it's not in the greatest part of downtown. It's a pain to get to if you're walking from the station.

This hotel has a great location, is clean, well priced and the breakfast was fantastic. We have titanium status and therefore stay in Marriott hotels at least 75 night per year. Unlike other reviews on this page I honestly believe that the $25 destination fee is a good deal. For our destination fee we got, 2 reusable metal water bottles, premium wifi, 2 single tram tickets, 2 x 1 hour electric scooter rental and $25 per day dining credit.
The reason for the low score is due to the front desk check in, we checked in and were given a room on the 28th floor with a great view. When we got to the room there was only a king bed with no pull out converting bed for 2 adults and our 12 year old son traveling together. I called down to reception to have it rectified and was told that the 3 of us should sleep in one bed. At first I thought it was a joke and that the front desk was was sorting it out. To my dismay the front desk told me that we had booked for 2 and that his suggestion would be to have the 3 of us sleep in the bed. I confirmed that the reservation was booked and paid for 3 and that I would come down to the reception to have it resolved, the person on the call was belligerent and said that he would be waiting. I went to the front desk where all 3 of the staff denied speaking to me HOWEVER without providing my name we were upgraded to a corner junior suite. Customer facing staff is the face of the business and due to this unecesary situation I will never stay at this location again.

We had a junior suite for 2 nights while in San Fransisco and it was very roomy and nice. The bed was so comfortable. Everything was extremely clean in the room and throughout the hotel. The shower was great, never had to wait for hot water, loved the showerhead, lots of water pressure. The staff was wonderful from check in through check out and everything in between. The breakfast had 2 options, full buffet breakfast or the continental buffet breakfast for $30 or $20. The fruit was very fresh, as was everything else, they had lots of options and if you got the full buffet, they had hot food too with made to order omelets. Great location for walking downtown, we were able to walk or take the trolley to many places around town like Fisherman's Wharf, shopping and lots of nice restaurants.

Well I arrived after a long journey 18 hours from home and 2 flights. No welcome to the Marriott (actually NO welcome at all) ! Handed the guy my passport and he asked for my credit card, I said to him you cannot spend money in the hotel so why take card details. He said in case anything is damaged ?? I am a solo lady aged 70 ?? I gave him my card to which he said they take a hold of $75 each night (I was staying 6 nights). Anyway he then gave me my room card, no explanation of anything in the hotel, where I go to get the lift to my room ?? He was so rude, really put me off staying there. I asked which days the restaurant was open and he handed me two pieces of printed notes detailing this and what restaurants are around locally. When I got to my room with my luggage (no one offered to help) I was delighted, it was a large room with a sofa in and everything I needed, until I showered!! No shower gel, 2 shampoo bottles on the wall and a conditioner. I let reception know when I was on my way out and hoped it was there when I came back, but NO had to ask yet again. The bed, pillows etc were amazing and I slept well most of the time. Starbucks was just opposite the hotel so I walked over there most morning and brought back breakfast to the room. Walgreens is on the opposite corner for incidentals. The area is wonderful and close to most things in the centre of SF, Union Square and Macy’s is a five minute walk, and the cable cars go right past the hotel on Powell Street. I slept overnight in Edinburgh in a Marriott before taking my first flight and the receptionist there was rude as well. Travellers do not need this attitude, if your in the hospitality trade please put a smile on your face ! Two staff who were lovely were my housekeeper Liyu and receptionist Xia Minyi who very kindly printed off my documents for me and answered a few questions without being abrupt! Would I stay there again, probably not there is so many lovely hotels around the same area.

The entire stay was excellent. We were able to check in early. We also requested a late checkout although we ended up leaving before 11 AM. The room was clean and well furnished. I thought it could use one more garbage bin based on the size of the room. Although I was not happy about the destination charge, it was palatable with the food and beverage credit as well as the reusable water bottles. One gripe was valet parking. For the cost of over $70 per night, valet should have brought the vehicle to the front of the hotel, as opposed to my family and I having to walk around to the parking garage. The next is a minor thing but the dessert options at Bin 480 in the evening were disappointing. On the other hand, the morning breakfast buffet at $30 per adults and $13 per child was on point. We would stay here again. The location was good. I’m sure people who are in shape could probably have walked further than we did. However, we were not used to the hilly terrain and with small kids, we ended up using Uber to get to places that would have taken 30 minutes by foot.

We stayed here in February 2022. The front of the house reception staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Although we spent between 5 to 10 minutes waiting for reception staff to come to the desk, when they arrived they apologised profusely for the delay. They take a look at your passport, im assuming to confirm identity and also they take a deposit, which was given back to me about 5 days later.
We were given a room on the 14th floor. We had a lovely view of the bay and you could see the shipping containers when they were passing.

The room we had was a double queen bedroom. It was super clean and spacious. The room had a fridge which was helpful for all the cheesecake we got :) The tv had Netflix on so you could sign into your account and watch that. The beds were comfortable, the pressure in the shower was excellent.

The hotel is in an excellent location, it's within walking distance of everything you need.

The only downside was that you had to pay for wifi.

Covid precautions were that you had to wear a mask when in the corridors, lifts and when passing through the hotel to get out or in.

I would definitely stay here again. We really enjoyed our stay here.

They did the best they could in California Covid shutdown, with Executive lounge open with a limited service, the restaurant for breakfast and great clean rooms. Front desk staff was amazingly responsive and even anticipatory. I was very impressed and you can walk out the door to a street car.
