For our first ever trip to San Francisco, we decided to avoid the big hotels and try something a little different: we were not disappointed. We had a fantastic stay in the white room at the Inn on Castro and absolutely loved being in such a great location. After days cycling over the Golden Gate Bridge and climbing the Coit...

We had a great stay with Jan - fantastic location, can't imagine a better spot, great room and bathroom with lots of thought put into making sure you are comfortable. Jan cooked an awesome breakfast and was extremely helpful - we will definitely go back when we're next in San Fran.

Stayed three nights. Was well recieved and cared for. Proprietor took time to be social and informative. Nice retromodern decoration. Everyday a different breakfast that always tasted very nice. Can definitely recommend staying there.

We've stayed at the Inn on Castro twice now and had a great stay both times. Jan is an excellent host who takes a real interest in the guests and makes an excellent breakfast. The Inn is a relaxing spot just off Market Street. Highly recommended.

We spent 3 wonderful nights at the Inn. A wonderful cozy 3 storey home right in the Castro. Spotlessly clean, amazing breakfast and Jan and Meghan always there and so helpful and delightful. The Metro is over the street and the trolley around the corner so no problem getting about. And the Castro neighbourhood is safe, fun and packed with great...

My friend and I were first-timers in the city. The innkeeper was very helpful and accommodating, the location was perfect in terms of access to transit, shops, restaurants, etc. The inn and room decor was well thought out, and we got an authentic Castro neighborhood experience. Both my friend and I would stay here again.

I came to SF for a very long overdue visit and trek to see the city. I needed a place from which to work and also to play. I found that and more in the Inn on Castro. The people who work there, along with the owner, were helpful, supportive and informative. And for me, as a gay man, the...

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
