We stayed for 4 nights in the Red Room. It has a private bathroom and was very clean and cozy. The Inn is in a great location - in the heart of Castro (nonetheless we did not experience any loud nights) and the Muni station is right across the street. Jan was great, giving us all the local information we...

We booked last minute on 15th April and were lucky to get the last room available. We stayed for 2 nights in this charming Inn. Its a short walk from Castro is that is what you want. Particularly useful is the street across where there is parking (though at a slight risk). The Breakfast in the morning prepared by the...

We had 3 nights at the Inn on Castro and it was great! The attention to detail is superb - beautifully decorated rooms, with free whisky, chocolates and soft drinks and 5 star breakfasts. As well as delicious fruit, cereals and yoghurt there were different cooked breakfasts each day. For example. Poached eggs with fresh herbs, Parmesan and toasted hazelnuts...

A wonderful place to stay in the heart of Castro. We chose the green room with private bathroom on the corridor and it was great. You see Castro street. The room is cozy. If you have problems with street noises chose the Brown one or the White one but you have to book your room here. We have spent great...

We live in San Francisco and were given one days notice that we had to be out of our apartment for two days while our landlord did repairs that would be hazardous for us to remain home. You can imagine trying to find a place to stay midweek in San Francisco with such short notice presented a challenge, unless you...

My husband and I stayed at the Inn on Castro for 4 nights during May 2015. The residence is in a fantastic location, just next to the metro station and close to great bars and restaurants. We stayed in the Green Room, which was very nice. A hearty breakfast of fruit, yogurt, cereals and / or cooked items such as...

The Inn of Castro is absolutely phenomenal. Amazing hospitality! Jan, the InnKeeper made me feel so at home. Had extremely delightful conversations and so helpful in finding my way around San Francisco. The food was delicious, nutritious and organic! We had homemade breakfast in the mornings that was superb. I have never stayed at a B & B before and...

We were welcomed every morning with a delicious homemade breakfast that changed daily. I especially loved the apple bread and the salmon scramble. Fresh squeezed juices too! Street parking was available most days close by. We walked over a hill to get to some great restaurants. The rooms were quaintly decorated and very comfortable. I would highly recommend the Inn...

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
