This lovely hotel, with its slanted floors, one elevator and dated (but comfortable) décor was a wonderful place to stay our 2 night jaunt to SF. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly and helpful Jeff who accommodated our request for early check in. Our room – 614 – was excellent and clean. I am guessing that people who are...

A hidden European old world charm hotel! Original artwork and vintage furniture. So quaint! Nothing modern here... full of history. Clean and feels like home in a big city. A place to retreat. Near everything, can walk to Chinatown, Union square, Fishermans wharf but wear comfy shoes. Jeff at the front desk is awesome w helpfulness and plenty of local...

Stayed here for one night after flying in before picking up a car the next day to head out of SF. The location is excellent - very central and 10 mins walk from Powell St station on the BART. The rooms are a little on the small side - perhaps to be expected when so central but are also a...

We walked to the hotel from the Powell stop on the BART coming in from the airport. Short walk and located just before the block with the steep incline. Friendly staff although some were not too knowledgable of public transportation options. The library bar is charming and we were also a few blocks from a car rental location as we...

The location is great and the hotel bar is cozy, but the best part of Hotel Rex is the service. There was a challenge with my room that required rebooking, and Gitanjali made sure the change was easy.

Very close to all the action in the middle of the city. Easy access to restaurants, bars, Union Square, Cable Car, etc. Older hotel - some things are dated but overall great service and the rooms are very nice.

A friend upgraded our room to a suite for our 20th anniversary (we stayed at the Rex for our wedding) and while we were delighted with its size and the 8th floor location, our sleep was regularly disrupted by a VERY loud clanking in the bathroom plumbing. The first couple times were especially jarring as it sounded like someone was...

Great location for a SF weekend! Close to shopping (so we could periodically drop off heavy bags!) and easy walking distance (for us, easy is a mile or less) to theaters, Chinatown dim sum, North Beach Italian, Ferry Building farmer's market. Staff was extremely friendly and nice. We could have paid a bit less at a big name chain hotel,...

We have stayed at the Hotel Rex several times over the last few years. It quickly became our favorite. It is on the small side overall and the rooms we have stayed in continue that trend but they are very comfortable with excellent showers and amenities. There is a good sized bar and daily happy hours with frequent live music....
