I admit to being confused by the reviews that are so decidedly negative. Having been a multi-week time share owner for 20 years, we have experienced Marriott’s around the world. Ko Olina Beach Club staff and management are wonderful! They acknowledge COVID protocols and follow them, but they are doing everything they can to ensure guests have a great vacation. Pool or beach reservations are for two hours, though walk-ins are welcome after 30 minutes. You can also enjoy the beach anytime. The rooms entire resort were very clean and freshly decorated. Service at Longboard’s and the Marketplace was friendly and fast—everything was tasty. If you expect to be completely free in what you do, where you go and whether you have to wear a mask, that means staying home. If you want a wonderful holiday in Hawaii there are hoops to jump through, but it is safe and thus well worth it.…
This has always been my favorite place to stay in Hawaii. Not anymore. I realize they’re trying to abide by covid guidelines, but I hardly felt like I was in a resort, much less on vacation. You can’t just go to the pool. You can’t just go to the beach. You’ll get kicked out unless you have a reservation. A villa that accommodates eight can only reserve two lounge chairs in the whole resort for two hours per day-not sure what you’re supposed to do with yourselves in those other hours. (County guidelines currently allow groups of five. Honolulu County also has one of the lowest covid rates in the country, and just about everyone at the resort has just had a negative covid test.). There’s no sit down service at Longboards so you have to stand in an often lengthy line to order your $15 mai tai and $20 hamburger to go from the lone bartender. Are they just using covid as an excuse to save money? (County guidelines allow sit down service at restaurants). I was told when I checked in that I had to wear my mask anytime I was outside my room, including on the beach and at the pool-even standing in the pool! (County guidelines state you should wear a mask indoors when you can’t social distance-not at the beach). Finally, every time you return to park you have to call the front desk to get them to open the gate. Normally you would just use your room key. I’m not sure why covid requires this extra level of inconvenience. The only easy and convenient thing you can do is book a timeshare tour. In short, it’s just too much work and not a fun place to be. Management has sucked the joy out the place. Go somewhere else.…
This was absolutely awful. The room and hotel are outdated and not clean. I wouldn’t even take my shoes off in the room. Not to mention their COVID guidelines make no sense. You only get one two hour reservation for seats at the pool. You can only have one per day. Then they close every thing down (pool and beach) every two hours to clean (aka spray chemicals on the chairs - don’t even wipe them off). Terrible process and very unorganized. Each attendant (when you can actually find them) say different things. Never again will I stay here. You are on vacation...for the same price you can stay down the street at the Four Seasons and have much better service. They are currently closed or we would have stayed there. This Marriott is a solid two stars. Terrible! Stay away.
Our room was beautiful and clean. It was a great location and the highlight for me was the lagoons. We brought our own snorkel gear and went to Paradise Cove lagoon and snorkeled and saw tropical fish and tortoise, and Monk Seal was napping on the beach. So cool. Many of the extras were closed because of Covid, but still had a wonderful time. Loved the restaurants and location too. Would love to stay here again.
Simply the worst hotel in the world that is not prepared to Post COVID world. 1) You cannot go to the beach and pool until 9:30am, because all the chairs are locked. When we asked politely to allow us to use chair at 9am and then at 9:23am, we were advised to use towels on the ground (imagine this in 5 star hotel). When we sat on the cabana chair (not prepared) while waiting, we were asked to sit on the ground and threatened by Jordan in a rude and unprofessional way. We spoke to the manager Rachel for pool and beach who was also not accommodating 2) you can book beach or pool only for 2 hours per day and cabanas for $50 for 2 hours. In the line they take priority for walk-ins not guest of the hotel for cabanas over guests 3) when you check in to get you chair at 9:30am, you need to wait in line. COVID central here. You get chairs in one place and then asked to go get towels in another place near by pools. They offer water only for cabanas. In Ritz you get bottles of water everywhere as an example 4) really “no aloha” here, no welcome drinks, no smile, no water in the room 5) hotel is in general old, and requires some renovations Some positives: - Service and food at the restaurant for breakfast was good - pools with waterfalls are beautiful…
