Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Vacasa knowingly booked us into a condo without running water. No ability to cook, shower, or use the toilet. They offered to refund one night, and then wouldn't do that. Wavecrest is lovely, but DO NOT book through Vacasa.

We stayed here while working in the area. It's nice for a relaxing getaway. The hotel is quiet and our room was comfortable. However, there's not much to do nearby and the beach fronting the hotel is not good for swimming.

I want to echo all of the other wonderful things said about this property in the other reviews. The view from the lanai is so incredible that you will be tempted to stay all day. Sunrises with stunning colors. Sunsets literally steps away with the same. Nights with stars so bright and close you feel you could touch them. The view from the pool and nicely appointed, large, open air cabana building are the same. I liked being able to move from the sun at the pool to the shade of the cabana and still feel I was outside at the edge of the ocean. The year-round residents of the complex are a warm and welcoming group who organized a Christmas singalong and caroling. Check in was seamless. The unit was spotless. The kitchen is modern and had everything that this working chef needed to make great meals. Amanda was a terrific host, immediately responding to the only issue I had, with the internet. She was immediately on the phone with the provider (who embarrassingly for me determined that I had not turned on the power to the WiFi.) Amanda provides a lengthy list of things to do, places to go and restaurant recommendations. I would add: 1. the ribs in guava bar b que sauce at for dinner at the Cookhouse; 2. fresh beef from the island that can be purchased at the Molokai Livestock Cooperative (one of the best cuts of meat I've ever had, at a very good price); 3. Ahi Poke Bowl at Paddlers Inn. As you will read, Molokai is not for everyone. But it's rural, remote lifestyle protects an outrageously gorgeous countryside and a relaxed way of life. It was the perfect place to recharge after a long year. The trip and this property rank among the top of the many places I've been. I will be going back.

We stayed five nights at Wavecrest, in flat A304. The condo was perfect in so many ways. Building A is closest to the water, and from the flat, you see nothing but ocean and palm trees. Being on the upper floor, we were able to catch the sea breeze. The small balcony includes comfortable chairs and a table, and we sat out enjoying the view of the water and the mangroves near by. The living area of the condo is comfortable as well. We were both working during part of our stay, and between the desk, the round table, and the kitchen bar, we found acceptable places for our laptops and notebooks. The kitchen is incredibly well-stocked with pots, pans, knife, utensils, coffee grinder and maker, toaster, and other key appliances. Since the owners encourage visitors to leave pantry items behind, the pantry had a variety of seasonings and spices. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained. with shower/tub combo. The bedroom is small, but the bed is comfortable. There is also plenty of storage space for clothes. While there is a ceiling fan, we left the bedrooms windows and patio door both open and always had a lovely cross-breeze. I would highly recommend A304 for your stay at Wavecrest.

Very similar to Luana Kai Resort on Maui - same layout, same idea of condos some of which are privately owned and some of which are owned by rental agencies. Well-maintained property, albeit an old one. Full kitchen, internet (sometimes really slow), free parking. No beach access on foot. Felt really safe, everyone automatically says hi - wish I had my own condo there!

This is a nice quiet little place on the south shore of Molokai. I liked the location because we spent most of out time on this side and end of the island anyway. The resort has a good view of the mountains to the north as well. One of my favorites are the benches on the point. You can sit out there and watch the ocean, whales if they are out there, and peacefully view the other three islands,. We were in the B building which has a somewhat limited view. The A building would have the best views from the rooms. We stayed in room B207, which was very nicely decorated, had maps, binoculars, snorkeling equipment, tennis rackets and such for people to use while here. It also had a good wifi connection so the internet was freely available. It is a large 1 bedroom, 1 bath, with kitchen, living room, and covered deck. It views the courtyard, pool, mountains, and Maui. There is a small calm beach here with dark gray (black) sand, It was a very good stay and we would certainly consider it again if we ever came back to Maui. The staff was also very friendly.

Planned two weeks at Wavecrest A202. Wavecrest itself is a beautiful facility. Beautiful grounds very nice pool even if it may not be heated. Building A is Oceanfront gorgeous gorgeous view from any place in this building A. But the owners of A202 should be ashamed to even collect money for renting this place from the faulty locks on the shabby front door to the sliding glass door and screen that don't slide to the dirty refrigerator with no ice maker to the kitchen cabinets that are literally falling apart. Nothing a couple cases of Elmer's Glue wouldn't help. Wiring that is strung along the baseboards nailed to the baseboards. Outlets that won't even hold a plug for you can charge your electronics. Old dust in many areas that you can knock off with your finger into chunks. A soggy wet sponge laying in the sink. no wonder there's bugs that I have to fight to be able to prepare each meal. The kitchen appointments look like somebody's leftovers from several garage sales. very sad. The dishwasher paint is Rusted and peeling and I've been washing my dishes by hand There is however a nice 5 burner gas range if you like gas. The shower doors are replacement doors which are too big for the shower opening therefore leaving only about 1/4 to 1/3 of the space to get in and out of the shower tub. The master closet is so full of junk that there is no way for the renter to use the closet space. The bed however is comfortable but could definitely use with some fresh Linens. Dryer sheets between the bed sheets makes for a fresher smell. There are only for child some for Wash Guys for the two of us. Even though we did plan to do some laundry we didn't plan to have to do laundry every day. The beach towels being promised are tiny little things. We can't get to stations on the TV and watch the same three shows over and over. Yes I did contact the owner and they seem much more interested in their rent than they do the enjoyment of my vacation. In such a lovely location as Wavecrest with such beautiful Oceanfront views it's too bad they had to be dishonest about the condition of the condo in order to rent it. They should definitely be ashamed of themselves. Vacations are precious and also expensive and I don't appreciate having been treated this way.

This was our third visit to Molokai and our second stay in one of John and Shelley's units. We enjoyed their third-floor unit last year, but this year the first floor has been really terrific. We love being able to wander out to the grass from our lanai and the ocean views are peaceful to contemplate from the cushy lanai furniture. Surprisingly little foot traffic along the grassy verge, so very private. #110 is beautifully furnished and well equipped, everything that you need to cook and sleep comfortably and all the electronic goodies if you find yourself at home...TV, stereo, Bose in living room and bedroom. Spotlessly clean on arrival. The pool seems to be the social centre for the three-building complex, but never overcrowded or noisy. Lawn chairs also available for tanning, reading or whale watching. Just a great place all round, but we have the impression that #110 is particularly well upgraded, furnished and cared for.

We spent a great week in a ground floor unit in Wavecrest's building A. Thought Wavecrest was the best accommodations option on Molokai and would definitely go back. The property offered beautiful views of Maui and Lanai, nice landscaping, and a terrific pool, but the best part was the friendly community of condo owners and guests. We enjoyed chatting with people at the pool and at the nightly gathering to watch the sunset.

Our stay didn't start well as there was no power when we entered the unit. Others also confirmed they had no power; and one long term resident stated this happens regularly in the east end and could be out for an hour or a week. My concern was there were no candles (understandable) or working flashlight in the unit, so I drove the 13 miles back to town to buy one. Typical to my luck, the power was back on when I returned.! Wavecrest is an older complex but is very well maintained. The pictures shown on the VRBO website are accurate. The complex is well situated for visiting the island which we did from one end to the other For the most part the unit is very well equipped; although there were no tissues nor hand-soap provided. Other than that the unit is great! Building "A" directly faces the ocean and I completely enjoyed sitting on the lanai watching the havoc the strong wind was playing with the waves and the palm trees. The bathroom was very clean and the bed very comfortable. This unit is a real bargain at the price and we would book again should we decide to return to Moloka'i
