Many of our trips over the years have been based off what outdoors activities/hiking and camping can be done in the area so when we headed to Maui for 2 weeks it was a great way to compare Kauai and Maui as we had camped nearly 3 weeks on Kauai a few years ago. So the permit application is pretty...

Do not expect this to be a resort or hotel. This is SACRED LAND! Spiritual in everything from the wind, to the land, to the Bugs! This is a Cultural rural stay that will allow to feel what the Princess felt when she was hiding from the King! If you meditate or are soul feel you can not escape the...

Nice beach with black sand! It's worth to check it out. By the time I went, it was very windy, but still very nice! There's was not a lot of people, and it was great to spend time with friends. I went by car, but I don't know if there's other type of transportation. Parking was easy!

Yes, you have to haul linens, and the cabins definitely need an update, but they are clean, had hot water and decent mattresses, and the park is beautiful. The low cost and 6 beds make the cabins perfect for larger families or those who prefer to spend their $ elsewhere. Thoughtful campers had left behind dish washing detergent, some odds...

We mostly enjoyed our stay in cabin # 6. First of all, we didn't have to race back to "civilization" by dark like most of the day trippers. The cabins are $60 + $6 in fees for Hi. residents, and $90 plus fees for non-residents. Our cabin had two twin beds in the living room and two sets of bunk...

The camping here is awesome. This place is truly Hawaii. There is a big blow hole in the rocks, amazing views, and the sounds of waves crashing while you sleep. The black sand beach is awesome. One of the best spots to camp on the island!

My husband and I had stayed at these cabins 9 years ago and the condition went from rough to gross. The cabins did not have any amenities. There were ants all over the kitchen counter. The hot plate barely worked. The caretaker was very rude and nasty. For the price ($99. a night) it was not at all worth it....

...not the cabins. Camping here was the highlight of our trip to Maui. If you are thinking of staying in the cabins or in a hotel save your money and pack your tent and sleeping bag instead. It was worth the extra check-in bag at the airport. Get you permit online (hawaiistateparks.org) before your trip, print out a few copies...

Stayed here recently on my road-trip around the island. The cabin itself is nothing special, really rather dumpy, but a short walk from here puts you on a beautiful black-sand beach. You can hear the waves crashing against the rocks from the cabin. The porch in the front of the cabin is large enough for several people to sit back...

These Hawaii state park cabins are a great option for staying near Hana. They are relatively inexpensive, in a beautiful setting and allow you to get the most out of a trip to the east end of Maui. The trick here is to have reasonable expectations. The cabins are not new. In the wet Hana climate the exterior is going...
