This place is very rustic and was really private with great views, the parking is also free which is a bonus. The rooms were spacious and really easy to get to. The only down side we had was after a long day out snorkelling and adventuring around the island we came back to cook our dinner and have showers.... there...

The hotel has a new owner and has had a lot of updates. Our room was a two bedroom suite and was very roomy. We had a couple of small issues but all in all it was an ok stay. The beds are comfy. Pretty view and good location. For the price of the hotels on the beach this was...

If you're looking for all the amenities, this isn't your deal -- no TV, building built in the 70's (?). But if you're looking for a clean and comfortable room right on the ocean for a reasonable price, this is your place. Location is great, management was very nice, room was very satisfactory.

We were a little skeptical because past reviews were less than stellar but when I spoke with the manager before booking she explained that it was under new ownership after being owned and run by the same family for quite some time so I wanted to help support their new venture. They are pricing it ridiculously low to build up...

So for sure this property is on the up swing Laura i super friendly and guest oriented. They have all new microwaves, coffee makers and had all new pots pans and dish wear coming in while we were there. We found the room and property in decent and improving condition. Room was clean with brand new bedding and towels. Other...

If you to party at your accommodation or want all the modern luxuries then this place is not for you. However, if you want a quaint and quirky place to.stay right on the water and just chill out, and you're not worried about having the latest of everything then this might just be the place. Aloha and Mahalo for your review, I am happy that you found the Makai Inn to be quiet and quaint. I did want to address your comment on the rise in rates. The Makai Inn has not seen a rate increase in many years, nor has it had any updating or serious maintenance of the property. We are in the...

If I could give this hotel negative stars I would. Me and two friends booked this hotel because we just graduated high school and we were on a budget, but use your money somewhere else. I would've rather paid more instead of staying at this place. First off we had 3 people and the limits to the rooms are 2...when...

Aloha, I am sorry you had a bad experience with the previous owner. In July, we acquired the property and are making major improvements to the hotel. While we are still not a "Party" hotel, I do encourage my guests to enjoy themselves and only ask that they are quiet after 10pm, a reasonable hour, considering most guests are up...

Read the amenities list carefully for what they don't say... There are no tv's ,no swiming pool, a timer on the water heater (shut off between 10pm-6:30am), no ac( though the breeze and fans were adequate for us it may be a point of concern for others),jalousie windows (to let in every noise) and sporadic at best internet connection. The...

Aloha, Mahalo for taking the time to review the Makai Inn. We have recently undergone an ownership/management change and are doing many upgrades and improvements to the property. I have hired an excellent housekeeping manager and maintenance man and we are working together to make the Makai an amazing property that guests feel comfortable and do not want to leave....

This is a very charming little place in a great location, but the other reviews are right about the lack of cleaning. The fridge was really gross and I wondered when the last time the bathroom had been cleaned- and I hoped the sheets were clean! If you are a stickler for cleanliness, don't stay here. if you do stay...
