I am a Maui Resident and a long time lover of the Hana Maui Hotel. My latest visit was for my Nephews wedding. He and his lovely bride fell in love with the Hana Maui and decided to have their wedding there. About 55 guests arrived (from the Mainland) and were staying at the property. The staff was so awesome in creating a magical wedding we all had a wonderful time. Everyone thing about this hotel reminds me of old Hawaii. A caring staff, wide open spaces, quiet and the magic of Hana, It is expensive, and very low key, but if you are looking to see what Hawaii was like long ago, it is worth a splurge .

Lovely peaceful property with a couple pools, tennis courts, spa, and small treadmill/bike room. Not much to do in town, so the amenities make a big difference. What makes it so great is the activities (morning yoga with ocean view, lei making, coconut husking demonstration, spear throwing, etc). As a heads up, I don’t think the rooms have a/c. They have a lot of windows plus ceiling fans, so the breeze kept it cool (when we stayed, the high was in the upper 80s and low was probably 70° overnight). We had such a great time and will make a point to stay here again on our next trip to Maui!

Unfriendly and terrible service. Price is too high for what it is. Hotel spa is dirty and prices quoted are NOT what they charge. Be careful!! Restaurant is clean and the food was better than expected.

Hana is a quiet, laid back, rural town. You wont find golf courses, 5 star restaurants, (or many restaurants at all for that matter) in Hana. If you want luxury amenities, stay in Wailea. My husband and I booked our stay at Hana-Maui back in April. At that point, we paid $600 a night for an ocean view bungalow because we are government employees. I understand COVID has wreaked havoc on the hospitality industry, but that does not change the fact that no one should pay $600 a night for this hotel, nonetheless, some people even paid $800 a night for this hotel! We paid for an ocean view, but got a partial ocean view. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, we were in the back row of bungalows so needless to say we were disappointed with our view. The rooms are incredibly spacious, but the bathrooms are extremely outdated (which is why they dont have photos of the bathrooms on their website) AND there is NO AC. Now, you should expect air conditioning if you're paying $600-800 a night. The property itself has so much potential, but Im hoping now that Hyatt has purchased the property, they will make the necessary upgrades. For example, both pools don't have a hot tub...The only place you can find a hot tub is the spa. The property needs more fire pits, there is only one on the entire property. The tennis court and gym are great. The hotel only has one restaurant and your only other food option is food trucks. In my opinion, the food trucks had better food than the hotel...The staff were incredibly friendly, especially the valet staff. I would only recommend this hotel to friends if the hotel dropped their prices. You are paying for luxury but you receive mediocracy. Disappointed in our stay.

This is first time we were staying here a few nights so that we could hike at the 7 Sacred Pools and swim at the Black Sand Beach. We had the ocean view rooms and the views were absolutely stunning - especially the sunrise in the early morning. You could just spend hours glazing and listening to the crashing waves during the day or the night. The rooms were spacious and enjoyed the tub for a good relaxing soak. The restaurant dining food was good - servers were friendly and attentive. Husband had the duck breast which was delicious and I had the fish special which was ok (but not as good as I would have expected from the fresh catch - it tasted “fishier” than expected. Not sure if it was the fish or the oil it was cooked in). If you are looking for great cheap eats, there is a food truck area within walking distance of the hotel. Note that the trucks close at 7pm. Had a great tofu curry bowl and Pad Thai there. One thing to note (which is why I gave 4 star instead of 5) was the lack of AC in the rooms. Probably most nights it was ok due to the ocean winds, but one night the ocean winds were howling all night and humid because of storms. It did not make for a good night’s sleep.
