At the Sheraton Kauai Resort, guests often find themselves torn between the hotel's prime location close to picturesque beaches and local attractions, and the concerns over value, as some guests consider the prices steep given the additional fees. Cleanliness earns high marks for immaculate rooms and grounds, although a few travelers suggest the pools need more attention. The array of amenities, including yoga and beach access, are well-received, despite occasional maintenance gripes.
Opinions on the rooms and atmosphere diverge, with praise for ocean views and spaciousness tempered by critiques of dated decor. Friendly staff are regularly mentioned, though service consistency appears to be an area for improvement.

The facility does not match the photos, everything is much smaller! The rooms are old and shabby and old-fashioned. Unfortunately there is not much to eat, just a fast food restaurant by the pool and an expensive restaurant every Tuesday - Saturday. The resort fee of $40 a day is completely excessive. What is the point of that? Lots of strangers on the beach and in the Sheraton parking lot, making it difficult to park? The restrooms need a major cleaning, the floors and walls are very, very dirty, you can't just wipe them, you have to use a Kärcher! The mattresses in the room are very hairy and only thin covers, no duvets? It needs renovation!

This hotel was pretty good. The views are great from the ocean view room we had. The pool has everything you need, not a lot of bells and whistles, but the pool staff at the activity desk was excellent and knew me by name after a couple days. Poolside food and drinks were pretty good and came from the adjacent Lava's restaurant. We were given daily free boogie board rentals with our Titanium Elite status, which was really nice. The Elite status breakfast offerings left a lot to be desired and were not that good; portions were small and offerings were basic. Location is great and right on the beach. We walked down the beach to see the sea turtles every night. We loved our stay here for the most part, but I'd stay up north near Princeville if I could do it again. The Luau at the resort was really well done and being at the same resort we are staying at was very convenient. The kids and I did a few of the activities included in the "resort fees" like water color painting and a few crafts. We liked the activities and crafts and enjoyed them. The pool gets pretty sandy by the end of the day, but it's cleaned thoroughly early every morning. The staff were all very friendly and the service was excellent.

This resort has an amazing beach location and it is super fun to play in the surf here. The resort itself, however, has no personality whatsoever. Walking to our room, I’m thinking the vibe is “fortress.” Gardens/grounds nicely tended so that’s a plus. We are in a studio lockoff. Everything is very cramped and once again, the room has nearly no personality. Furniture looks like laminate footlockers with lots of dings and peeling surfaces. The resort has two pool areas with not nearly enough lounge chairs for how big the resort is. We are here in a not busy season yet cannot seem to find an open lounge chairs except in full sun which is not our favorite. Next time we come to Poipu we will skip this resort for something with a little bit of charm and more room. We are Vistana owners and this place doesn’t compare well with the other Vistana resorts we have been to.

Kauai was the last leg of my 5 week work/vacation travel itinerary; I was very eager to come back to this resort after visiting three years ago, have attempted to book twice during the pandemic only to cancel because Hawaii had a 14-day quarantine. Coming back to this resort in Nov 2022 I discover the property was completely changed resulting in utter disappointment.
The hotel had gone thru a remodel and I wanted to see what became of it. The rooms were beautiful, but the services fell short... way short.
For one, it doesn't seem like they really value Marriott Titanium members; the breakfast was "free" but we were only given 1 menu choice consisting of one scoop of yogurt, one scoop of granola, and 3 slices of pineapple + coffee. Sure, we can add $5 to "upgrade" to other menu items, but what would you think if the room rates were approaching $1000 a night for a standard room? $5 is nothing when we paid so much to come, so to me its more like a slap in the face.
To add insult to injury, this took over 30 minutes to prepare. I had complained to the waitress twice and this was finally delivered to me, with the explanation that "the printer broke, so kitchen didn't get my order." Maybe this was an isolated incident, but over the course of 5 nights, the breakfast took 30 minutes to prepare TWO other times.
And about other services. I had a night where housekeeping did not refill the soap, when I called, it took almost an hour to get (had to remind them). There was another night when I requested a blanket, and it also took almost an hour (with reminder calls).
About the pool. The property doesn't seem to have a policy to preserve the pool/beach experience. Every morning guests will scamper to the pool, throw a towel onto the chairs, then leave the pool to do their thing. You'd see majority of chairs covered by towels, yet barely anyone at the pool. Being above the pool, it was amusing yet annoying to see.
Check out. I was in the room 15 minutes past checkout time, bags packed and about to leave the room. Phone rings so i picked up the phone. I informed front desk im on my way out and i get an earful on checking out on time... was that necessary? Lesson learned, i wont pick up the phone.
Aside from that, 99% of the staff, when you see them were friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. But management seems to be way lacking. On my next trip to Kauai, I'm probably going to stay at a Hyatt (also a Hyatt Globalist) so we'll see how that goes.

Check-in was the friendliest woman I have encountered; she made the introduction to the hotel great and relaxing after a day of travel. She deserves recognition. I don’t like to post names publicly but if management reaches out, I am happy to provide. Just an excellent and friendly person to talk to.
We have shifted from Oahu to Kauai as the pace is more relaxed. The relaxed check in, no line, was exactly what will bring us back.
We have stayed here once before in building 1, luxury oceanfront room which was great. This time we opted for a suite in building 2 and had what was probably the most amazing room possible. Building 1 is a bit isolated and quieter, building 2 is centered around the pool area and feels more a part of the action.
The Hibiscus Suite, 2417, was incredible. Full views from three balconies of the ocean, pool, and coastline. The room could easily fit a family of 4-6. Full dining room, living room etc. The ceilings are vaulted and must be 20 feet high, giving the room a great open tropical feel with ceiling fans and the like. The bathroom was as large as almost standard hotel rooms itself.
Room service is always expensive with fees etc, but the delivery at this hotel was really presented nicely and made the cost worth it, Room service was exceptional in judging timing of the guest and the grounds are spotless.
The location can’t be beat, beautiful beach and everything you need within walking distance or a short drive.
There are seemingly two areas of the complex: The Sheraton hotel, which is oceanfront, and some type of timeshare setup across the main road. I think the time shares are dragging the reviews down as the hotel is great.
The time share rental crowd, in my opinion, draws a stressful group. I wish the whole place was a hotel. If folks want to lease 1 week a year to play owner, let them use Airbnb to fulfill those delusions of grandeur.
Highly recommended.

I write this as I am about to check out after seven nights—first, the good. Parts of the hotel are on the beach, which is wonderful if you are staying on the portion of the hotel near the beach. If not, you have to cross the street. The $40 resort fee per day gets you nothing but the internet and use of the pool. That's all. There are two restaurants, and they are both mediocre and overpriced. Their menus do not change. Seriously, the food was mediocre and way, way overpriced. But you do get to dine by the ocean. I had to wait a half hour to check in because they were training two new people. There was a line of three behind me as well. One day, they closed one of the restaurants, Lava's, for dinner due to a private event. What!? Being able to eat on-premises is one reason why I booked a resort! You can rent a mask, Finn, and snorkel set for $15 daily. My son lost his mask, and they wanted to charge him $100 to replace it. The mask was a cheap children's mask you can buy for $20 at Walmart. Lastly, the resort is choppy. It will take a few days to find out how to get around. I wish I could have given it a higher rating, but there is better value out there. Search for it. PS. I will not pay $100 to replace a cheap children's mask.

We stayed in 4134, ocean front, 4th floor. It had a great ocean view of the sunset and was on the quiet side of the complex. King size bed, large soaking tub, two sinks, mini-fridge, small table and chairs and 2 balcony chairs. The bed was very comfortable, good pillows, and great reading lights on the headboard. As a titanium member, we had a free breakfast each morning. There were 3 choices, a waffle option, egg frittata, or oatmeal. Each option came with banana bread, 3 slices of pineapple, coffee, and juice. The portions were huge and we loved all of the options. The breakfast staff at Lava's were very personable, great customer service, and went out of their way to be helpful. We had one evening at RumFire as a walk in to the bar area. RumFire is only open Thursday to Sunday and all the reservations were full by the time we arrived. They have a good brussel sprout appetizer. We rented a cabana for one afternoon, cabana #1 to the far side of the ones on the beach. The platforms for the cabana are wooden and with the cushions on the back, you can't see where the side and the back are meeting. I squashed my thumb between the back and side boards, resulting in a large hematoma under my thumbnail. I mentioned it to the staff and they also had the same difficulty and mentioned that some of them are being modified to give more room for fingers as you adjust the back. The pool area is a bit small and people claim the lounges by 7 in the morning with placing personal items on the chairs and then leave for hours. There is a small children's pool area that spills over to the main pool over a waterfall of lava rocks, a hot tub, and a main pool area. There are leafy sun umbrellas over some of the chairs but lots without sun blockage. The grounds are beautiful and have lots of walking paths by the water. The beach is wide and sandy, with no crowds. Check-in was quick and easy. We were notified by the app that our room was available early, there were no lines at check in and the bell staff got our bags to our room quickly.

We loved everything about this resort! We had a ground floor, ocean front room that was comfy, quiet and had a killer view. It was such a treat to be able to walk out of our sliding door onto a beautiful lawn and then to the beach. The entire staff treated us with care and kindness, from check-in to check-out. The front desk, valet, housekeeping, restaurant, store, beach activities and resort management personnel went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed beer and meals several times at Lava's and found the food to be quite tasty. The grounds and pool of the property are spectacular. The location in Poipu Beach is an excellent launching point to visit either side of the island. This was one of the BEST visits I have had in my many years of traveling and staying at hundreds of hotel properties. Highly recommended!

We stayed in the Sheraton Kauai Resort oceanfront king on the east part of the hotel. Wow! What a beautiful view and room. At check in we received complimentary chocolate covered macadamia nuts and skin care package skin care package (sunscreen, aloe, Chapstick). The resort fee also includes daily activities like yoga and lei making. Parking is also included. The pool area is nice with direct beach access and rentals available. The pool has bar/restaurant service from Lava's available. They will deliver your food/drinks to your pool chair. The resort has a cute little private beach, firepits, and yard games. We had a spacious room on the first floor with walkout patio that overlooked the ocean. A beautiful, secluded view of the ocean. It was an absolute dream at sunset. The room had a TV, fridge, couch, seating/ table inside, 2 patio chairs and a table outside, and double sinks with a large mirror in the bathroom. The room was serviced daily. The woman who cleaned our room was wonderful and always kindly engaged with us when we saw her. It is a 5 minute drive from poipu beach which always has lounging turtles! This probably the best hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. I don't have a single bad thing to say about it.

I felt this hotel used misleading descriptions and is really not great value. Despite being close to the water, the terms "deluxe" and "luxury" do not fit this hotel at all. The rooms are tired and dated. We had what seemed to be a herd of elephants above us and the late night neighborly shouted expletive conversations at one another, in graphic detail, were of limited entertainment value. We checked out after one night, which yes, cost a night's stay, but was worth it for our sanity. I had contacted the Concierge about trying to upgrade our room and found that all a $120 extra would get was 20 Sq Ft of the same. Why? If you want luxury, don't do this to yourself, there are much better out there. This was a disappointing mistake.

We did not use the pool, so I don't know how quiet it might be, but, as mentioned previously, they do have a grassy area with lounges along the beach that are quite comfortable. It did not seem noisy there.
No bracelets were given when I was there Dec. 2021. We stayed on oceanside of resort & the office is across the street. Everyone seemed very relaxed & friendly. I don’t think you will get charged extra for children b/c this is NOT an all-inclusive resort.
