I decided to go low cost on my trip to Kauai, and chose Mokihana. After reading numerous really negative reviews, I was skeptical. However, the place turned out to be a great deal. The newly renovated rooms are reasonably sized, clean and with all new...More
I planned a trip with my boyfriend to this hotel. Unfortunately the flight was cancelled and we had to rebook to another island. The hotel wouldn’t refund my room, and ended up wasting money. I don’t recommend this hotel if your plans might change unexpectingly
OK, to add to the their collection of fabulous properties on Kauai, Castle Hotels has recently acquired "Mokihana". in Kapaa. I'll state right off that this is not only the best, but the only hotel to book in Kapaa. Considerate management, impeccable housekeeping , newly...More
It was quiet, right by the beach. Facilities are a little old but it's totally fine to use. I was only there for a night but I loved it. Saw a seal sleeping on the beach during my morning stroll there. It is a good...More
We stayed at Castle Mokihana for 4 nights in November/2017. The price was very competitive and we decided to choose this hotel. They had a renovation going on, but it did not disturb us at all. We were pleasantly surprised that the Room assigned to...More

No...the hotel has NOT BEEN REFURBISHED. As a matter of fact, I went back over a year in comments, and the hotel has been singing the same tune for quite some time, I truly believe they have no intention of refurbishing the hotel. It is a crumbling, mess. The doors are all rusted, some with holes through them, and the locks are nearly impossible to secure. The "kitchenette" consists of a rusty fridge, and a coffee pot. The screen on the patio door fell off every day we were there. And the bedding, is just beyond description...dated, ugly, and the sheets are the cheapest possible ones available....POLYESTER DARK BROWN. In a room with no AC, no ceiling fan, the sheets make it unbearably hot. Also, the window in the bathroom (which if kept closed makes it like an oven in there) and the window on the door, have NO CURTAINS....so if you open the jealousy type window, EVERYONE WALKING BY can see straight into your room and bathroom.
