Hali'i Kai is a wonderful complex with a great pool and many amenities (tennis courts, ample parking). We had a unit right on the ocean and the whale watching was amazing! There is also a really good restaurant by the pool with good food and...More
We rented a two bedroom, two bath ocean view condo. It was a beautiful, well-stocked unit. It was spacious and very comfortable for all our needs with a great view of the shore and the sunset from our balcony. We did have a problem with...More
Condos and surrounding grounds were clean and well kept. Walking distance to restaurants and large major hotel next door. Pool area is beautiful, and even has it's own bar. The pool area has eating areas and BBQ's to use. However, they do not allowing you...More
The complex is within walking distance of trails, shops, and the ocean. Our unit was clean and well furnished with cooking utensils. The location was convenient for accessing the Kona airport and city. We had a few issues with bugs, but overall enjoyed the stay.
3rd time at this resort so I do like it. Unfortunately the adjacent Hilton is doing a major renovation and there was a lot of noise from sun up to sunset most days with trucks and jack hammers making most of the noise. They have...More

Property is on the beach. But much of the beach in the area are covered with volcano rocks. So pretty to look at but you can’t easily grab a towel and hang out. Our unit came with a pass to Hilton property next door which does have some areas of beach where you can walk on it and hang out as I recall.

Halii Kai has a spectacular shoreline worth a walk, but it is rocky. just 10 min up the road is Hapuna Beach, once rated top 10 in the world - worth the short drive and $5 parking fee. It is more swimmable than "A" beach at the Marriott .. watch for sea urchin stings at A beach. Hapuna has good snorkeling at the north end of the beach and utterly fantastic sand. Beyond that, the coastline is accessible in many places for varied beach experiences. But the best classic beach is Hapuna.

We booked through LUVA Realty and their service was second to none. I highly recommend them. We got some groceries in Kailua Kona at Costco, Walmart and Safeway. Foodland is our favourite grocery store on the island as we find the prices a little better. There is one located in nearby Mauna Lani. We also visited the larger one in Waimea when we were up that way.
