We spent two nights in Twin 1 and thought it was perfect. We loved the atmosphere, and being very close to nature. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the breakfast provided excellent - fresh fruit, coffee, cereal, English muffins, hard boiled eggs - pretty much everything you could want! Very easy to find, and close to the village... More

We stayed here a weekend before heading to Oahu - and I'm so glad we did! The Cottage was super clean, and very comfortable and right next to the breakfast Lanai. Alan checked us in and got us settled and then we had the place to ourselves. Spent most of our time sight seeing (volcano's, black sand beaches, Kona coffee)... More

We stayed in the "Cottage", which has room to sleep 4, full kitchen, 1 bathroom, 1 patio. One twin bed downstairs, a twin and a full size bed upstairs. The rates are reasonable for this area with free wi-fi and free breakfast. Room is rustic but clean. Bed is comfortable enough, but the couch needed some padding. Breakfast is continental... More

Close to Volcano National Park. Get to Park after 7 PM - no admission fee, before - parking is crowded. Rustic charm. One park space per unit. Enough space between units to have privacy. Open concept units so not a lot of privacy. Felt damp most of the time we were there - but also rained two of the three... More

Very nice, clean room (Olapa Room 3), with surroundings like a tropical rain forest. As others have stated, this is minutes away from Volcano National Park and about 35 minutes from Hilo. The only drawback was the musty smell of the room, but that is to be expected in a cool, humid location like that part of the island. The... More

We rented two of these houses for a two-week geology fieldtrip. They suited our needs perfectly. They're within minutes of Volcano National Park where we were working and are secluded and quiet which allowed us to recuperate in the evenings. Houses had everything we needed.

Location seems to be the biggest selling point for Volcano Guest House and I would agree. It's just minutes from the Park and Volcano Village. Several people have commented on the owners but we never met them as they were away on vacation when we stayed. However, they engaged a very nice young woman who checked us in and gave... More

My father and I stayed in Twin II last month. The instructions provided by the owner on how to get there were great, and the library of DVDs on offer was appreciated - the night we arrived we just wanted to collapse in front of the television. The house itself was basic, but had everything we needed. It was a... More

Rooms are well appointed but you can hear your neighbors turn in their bed. Staff at front desk not overly friedly.. Just did the minimum. Bar staff friendly but in such a great setting they could redo the decor a bit... Microwave and server station right in there...
