Irene is a fantastic hostess and the Lava tree experience is something I'll not forget. Irene prepares a lovely tropical breakfast that no one can beat to the sound of ukuleles and slack key guitar, according to preference, all set in a tropical garden. Food is sourced locally and includes mangoes, papaya, pineapple, bananas, and avocado, with grain breads and...

It is an old type Hawaiian house (plantation type) with very clean rooms and delicious breakfast. Few miles from it, there's a hot pond to swim,...

Location, Location Location! If you want to get away from it all, this is the place. I arrived late in the evening, the sky was overcast and the the night was as black as coal. Thanks to great directions from Innkeeper Irene, my rental car and I arrived safely and I was shown to my room. I awoke in a...

The Inn is a plantation style house situated on a tropical property next to the Lava Tree State park. Irene is a generous host and passionate about Hawaiian culture. Before arriving at Lava Tree Tropic Inn she ensured that we knew how to get there and what to do if checking in after hours. My sister and I stayed in...

This B&B was a nice combination of comfy, clean, and homey, and the breakfasts were immense and delicious. Irene gave us a lot of good recommendations about the area and went swimming with us at the hot pond. Lovely, but I didn't like the fishes getting my feet! My boyfriend loved the Kapoho tidepools and we both loved seeing the...

Irene (& her sister Margot) were delightful hosts. Irene's home became ours, along with the cats. The house is beautiful, and the location just great. But the breakfasts were something to behold. Bliss on the verandah in the mornings. Great to have wireless access and such welcoming hosts. We even joined Irene & Margot for their early morning swim at...

I came here with my wife and daughter. It was quite the gem. Irene was very informative about the area. I only wish we had a few more days to stay there. So much more to see. The grounds are just absolutely gorgeous. The breakfast was simple and mostly all from the property. The frogs at night made me sleep...

Delightful. Irena was charming and all was wonderful. Especially liked the cats and chickens who mingled with us on the grounds. Breakfast was made from fresh eggs from the chicks and accompanied by local fruits and juices and home made bread. Lovely!

This place is a gem- in a plantation style house with clean whitewashed rooms, nice patio overlooking a gorgeous property of jungle and Macadamia trees. Irene makes you feel right at home and it's a great spot to explore the Puna Region.

Looking for a typical Hawaii luxury hotel with manicured lawns and $25 breakfasts? Then avoid the Lava Tree Tropic Inn and leave it for us who want to enjoy real Hawaii. Wonderfully located in the tropical countryside of the Puna region of the Big Island, Lava Tree Tropic Inn features beautiful gardens, fruit trees and mac nut trees all lovingly...
