The hostess Irene is warm and caring. She went out of her way to accommodate me and answer questions. Her home is lovely and the grounds are beautiful! Breakfast was plentiful, with a large array of fresh tropical fruits. I slept well on the comfortable bed, lulled by the sounds of the forest.

We have been to the island before and wanted to stay around Pahoa again, because we love the tropical forest and the atmosphere on this side of Big Island. Considering that, Irene's Inn is perfectly located right in the middle of this tropical forest, a couple of hundred meters further down the road from the Lava Tree State Park. The...

Amazing! Irene is an awesome lady from Hungary, super friendly, incredibly knowledgeable about the area, and it was like staying are your aunts from the old-world house. The location is great, it's out of the way, less than a 5 min drive to Ahalanui Park ("The Hot Pot" Thermal Pond) and Pahoa witch has a nice little grocery store and...

We arrived at the Inn late on a dark rainy night and were greeted by Irene. In no time she had us settled in our cheerful and comfortable room. We fell asleep listening to the chirp of tree frogs and awoke to a crowing rooster. Looking out one of the large windows in our spacious room, we saw what we...

I was with a friend to see the nearby lava "firehose" which was actually a stream of lava flowing into the ocean. The Lava Tree Tropic Inn was about 9 miles from the end of the road, where one rented bicycles to get out to the flow. The beds were very comfortable, the breakfast incredible, and the host Irene and...

This is how bed and breakfast should be. Irene is a perfect host and puts the whole house at the disposal of her guests. And the breakfast is simply brilliant - the best for ages. Plenty of everything, excellent fruit and a friendly and sociable atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable and although shared bathrooms are a minor negative, everything works...

We spent a quiet, peaceful weeknight at Lava Tree Tropic Inn and were served a delightful breakfast on the lanai in the morning. It is on a large estate just out of town. The garden is beautiful and the owner is delightful. Koa wood stairs really caught my eye as did the mosaic art inlaid in the floor around the...

We spent two nights at this lovely place. The house, garden, surroundings, fruit trees are amazing. We stayed in a cozy room with bathroom, and unique furnishings. The breakfast was very delicious, tasty and homely. Irene is very gracious host, and her guests are kind also. If in the future we will visit Hawai'i we would like to spend more...

A great retreat in the rainforest, very close to many attractions in the west side of the island. Pahoa is very close as are the rocky beaches of the west. Family-like atmosphere with long, enjoyable and delicious breakfasts. Irene's fruit salad is irreplaceable.
