We had booked a treehouse for two nights and I was really looking forward to the concept of staying in a room without windows that is kept cool simply by the natural environment. Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by mother nature as there was a HUGE storm immediately overhead on our first night. Looking back, it was a truly magical...

I very much enjoyed the setting, the food and random individuals that I encountered via outings and the smokers tent! The culture is a volunteer one and as a guest one often feels excluded. With the exception of Sean who went above and beyond, the front desk were not as helpful as they might have been on suggestions to see...

Aloha Eliza and thank you for your review. We appreciate feedback and consider it an opportunity to learn and garner suggestions as to how we can deliver a better guest experience. One of the unique features of our campus is that we do offer the opportunity for a longer-term stay through our sabbatical and volunteer programs. Individuals who choose to...

This place is a gem. Beautiful environment. The sense of natural peace and joy here. Horses grazing in the field behind our cottage. Sound of the ocean at night. Lush flowers and trees everywhere. I slept like a baby. Excellent super healthy and nourishing food. Warm helpful happy people. Super lovely healing place. And we made it to the little...

I feel like any words I use to describe Kalani will just end up being silly. This place is that wonderful. The land is so beautiful and the people there are all super kind and conscious and welcoming. Highlights include...the food. The community. The surroundings. Greeting the day by watching the sun rise on the point every morning. Self-care happens...

We cannot say enough about this week at Kalani. The food is magnificent and abundant and accommodates all dietary needs and preferences. The staff is there when you need them, but otherwise behind the scenes. Our cabin was roomy and fit into this remote jungle setting perfectly. Known primarily as a yoga retreat center, the campus hosts other groups as...

This is a great place to get the experience of living on the big island in an independent social community. You can apply for a volunteer position and stay for a three month term. Volunteers work part time and in exchange get housing and three meals a day. I stayed as a guest of a volunteer and paid $35 a...

This place is NOT for everyone! We stayed in a beautiful Ocean Vista Loft - 2 bed/ 2 bath with shared living space over a private Yoga studio. It was like camping, without having to rough it. We were on a Yoga retreat, and it was great to walk downstairs to practice Yoga. A good 3/4 mile (one way) walk...

Kalani is an amazing retreat for couples, families or the solo traveler. The food is fresh, healthy, and absolutely delicious... I actually put on weight eating so much. There are lots of places to just chill in nature or read a book. In addition, there's a clothing optional pool and an activity area where you can take yoga classes, dance...

Had a great stay at Kalani. An awesome location right on the North Shore, walking distance from Rocky's and many other surf breaks. Bernie really went out of his way to help us out with surfing advice and we met a bunch of great people. The place is very clean and comfortable and has a great relaxed vibe. Really value...
