We enjoyed our stay in the Bamboo room, a nice suite with lovely views of the sunset. Breakfast was plentiful, well stocked by Sumner every day, and we enjoyed chatting with him. This is not a traditional B&B; there is only one room (the website is misleading, only the Bamboo suite is available. One room is occupied by renters, and...

Cozy, charming Hawaiian B&B. Located in North Kohala on the lower slope of Mauna Kea, there is a terrific panoramic ocean vista. At about 1500 ft elevation a gentle breeze is always available. Great breakfast base! Kitchenette is very guest friendly.

We stayed in the bamboo suite which was amazing. Every comfort was provided, the decor was excellent , very clean and the basket breakfast was good. The birdsong, the views and the night sky were brilliant. Melanie was very hospitable and sumner who brings the breakfast and cleans was a joy to talk to. We are pretty picky travellers and...

We made a reservation a few months ago and last week, we wanted to confirm and pay the deposit. We have been trying to get in communication with them either by email or voice mail (3 messages ) - we called many times...impossible to get in touch... Finally we decided to cancel our reservation... we are disappointed.

We stayed for 3 nights in Oct 13 in Tranquillity Suite. It is a nice house and nice room, but there are problems with bugs of all sorts. We killed two cockroaches while there, one scaring me to death while I was in the kitchen. I also had a huge ant crawling up my leg in my bed - the...

First of all it is a lot nicer than the pictures you will find online! We were staying in the Bamboo Suite. Large bedroom, large living room, modern kitchen.....the patio is outstanding! Simple breakfast is provided in a basket DIY. Though we didn't actually meet the owners, Melanie was very nice when we knocked at her door to say good-bye....

My son and I spent an entire week at Hale Ho'onanea. You have to understand what you're getting at this B&B so there is no surprise. If you're looking for a mega-resort with air-conditioned suites and places for massage and toenail-painting, this is not your place. If you are looking for a quiet Hawaiian experience, off the beaten path, with...

We enjoy the Bamboo suite at Hale Ho'onanea so much that we are frequent visitors. Owners Bruce and Melanie are wonderful people that make us feel just like ohana (family). The peaceful quiet we experience on the lanai in the cool of morning and the stunning star filled sky we gaze upon at night are true joys to us. Ho'onanea...

Hale Ho'onanea fits our style entirely. We've stayed here 3 times and will again, we hope. It's perfect for us because: 1) Breakfast is on your own as there is a basket of food in the room filled with a fruit to prepare, small loaf of breakfast bread, coffee, sugar, macadamias, a sweet, cereals, while in the refrig is milk,...

It would be hard to improve on this B&B. We stayed in the Bamboo Suite, which has a great view of the ocean and the sunsets would have been spectacular, except that they were obscured by vog created by volcanoes on the island. The hosts ere obliging and friendly; the facilities were everything we needed. A microwave and toaster oven...

“I would not choose the Tranquillity suite because of the poor noise insulation. You will hear your upstairs neighbours. Also, bugs are probably closer to the ground floor property...No breeze at night.”
