Well, I read about how terrible about how this place was, but on my solo cycling tour I got caught in a rain storm and said "Well, how bad can this place actually be". REAL NASTY, as I was soon to find out. So the place was pretty much empty, maybe 2 other rooms taken. I took a dorm room,...

I read good reviews in guide book and decided to give it a try because location near Waipi'o Valley. Price was higher than expected ($99 with tax) and cleanlyness nonexistent. The first room we checked in to had no running water in the bathroom sink. They moved us to the room next door with running water. The smell was so...

We were cycling around the island of Hawaii with a group of six and needed a convenient place for two nights. Our room had large windows with a nice view but the room was not quite clean, the bed marginal, the bedspread need a wash, the bathroom functioned. I opened a window for some ventilation. For breakfast we journied to...

We knew that we were checking into a rustic hotel, but for the price--we expected it to come with the basics. First, our cold water was turned off, we had NO TV reception or wifi reception, the bathroom door was warped and very difficult to open and our stairwell had absolutely NO lights. Eventually, we did get our TV and...

I have actually never written a review for anything on Trip Advisor, but I have to warn other people about my experience at this place. I was on the big island for 9 days, and stayed here for one night. To give you some context: my partner and I are in our mid-30s. We are not super budget backpackers, but...

Small little place....a converted old sugar plantation turned motel. wood floors are uneven, wood furniture matches the historic building... preserves a lot of the character. I liked it, would stay there again, the hosts were nice, and the surprise gecko that was in the room comes with the territory :) (historic in this case does NOT mean run down or...

This delightful gem in Honokaa is Old Hawaii at its best. Room 116, a corner second floor unit, was fantastic. It had a great breeze and as it is a corner unit so there was only one other room next door to us. This hotel is nothing fancy, but full of charm. It is open air so you will hear...

Despite all the average reviews, we had a good experience in this hotel. The bedroom ( with a great view) was very clean. We had hot water and a good shower. The owners are very nice indeed, very hepful. We had wifi that worked perfectly. The hotel is situated walking distance to restaurantes. It does need some improvment on doors...

You have to "get" old Hawaii to appreciate this place thoroughly. This ain't the Mauna Kea, and that's why it's $99 tax included. This is an idiosyncratic old place in a wonderful, little traveled setting. Back in sugar days, it was a working man's hotel as well as the place where salesman working the mill stayed. It keeps that ambiance....
